Oxen Butcher debuts on Flashover Recordings with his huge new single with the lovely vocals of Bonnie Rabson. ‘I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free’ is a typical Summer anthem, perfect for those ultimate sunshine filled moments.

Oxen Butcher burst onto the scene in January of last year with his first track which was given away as a free download with it immediately supported by BBC Introducing, this quickly followed by his first official release ‘Love & Happiness EP’, which proceeded to be a Beatport Chill Out No.1.

The second EP also went top 3 on Beatport’s Chillout chart and was again supported by BBC Introducing. His next single ‘Walking On The Sun’ was playlisted on Tiesto’s AFTR:HRS Spotify playlist.

And now there’s ‘I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free’.  Music lovers will recognize it from the original by legendary singer Nina Simone, but Oxen Butcher has truly made it his own together with the beautiful vocals from Bonnie Rabson.

I'm a King Bee (James “Slim Harpo” Moore)

"Un jour, je me suis assis devant mon clavier et j’ai écrit cette chanson en l’espace d’une heure et demie. Ensuite j’ai appelé Percy et je lui ai dit que j’avais écrit quelque chose et que les couplets étaient inspirés des images du film mais que le refrain était "I am calling you" parce que j’étais constamment au téléphone. Je la lui ai chantée au téléphone et je lui ai dit que je pourrais peut-être écrire quelque chose de mieux. Il a dit non, c’est parfait. Et il a ajouté : "J’espère que mon film est digne de ta chanson". C’était un grand moment. Je me suis senti réconforté et le jour suivant, je recommençais à me sentir bien. J’ai traversé une passe très intense du point de vue émotionnel et spirituel pour écrire "Calling You" et je pense que les gens l’ont ressenti. Je crois que c’est pour ça que cette chanson ne se démode pas".
