Godstowe is a happy and thriving preparatory school for girls aged 7 to 13, approximately a third of whom are boarders. We also have a lively Pre-Prep and Nursery for girls and boys aged 3 to 7 

RubyBlu is a female indie-folk duet based out of Southwest Colorado. Although just two girls, they bring a dynamic and eclectic sound with their range of instruments, captivating voices, atmospheric harmonies, and mixture of genres. RubyBlu appeals to a wide variety of audiences of all age groups and musical tastes. They have shared the stage and worked alongside bands such as Hello DollFace, Elder Grown, and Alpen Rising. The welcoming and lively atmosphere they deliver to each show they play brings a similar vibe as the artist Brett Dennen whereas their paradisiac sound reminds you of the esteemed band Joseph. RubyBlu is sure to bring people of all backgrounds together and provide a unified environment through their music.

Members Joel Crosland (vocals), Lee Hawkhead(Guitar), David Pool (Bass) and Simon Collins (Drums) have recently completed their brand new demo release with industry producer Pat Grogan (Terrorvision / Sea Horses/Chumbawumba).

The 3 track CD features two original songs from the first Pigeon era, Salad Cream, the pigeon “anthem” and most widely recognised track, and Biscuit Case, a lively, upbeat track with hooks that will leave you wanting more. The demo is completed by the brand new harder sounding track 4x4 leaning away from the Nirvana, grunge inspired sound and moving more into metal.

Each band member is into a different range of music styles, from metal, punk and indie to dance and R&B and drawing inspiration from Nirvana, Green Day, Terrorvision, Deftones and maybe even Girls Aloud this range has influenced and moulded the unique Pigeon sound. Since reforming earlier this year, the band have given all of their material a more grown up sound, reflecting the band themselves being older, wiser and slightly fatter than before. 

Described by industry producer Pat Grogan as “a breath of fresh air”, the band’s style ebbs from the laid back attitude and determination to enjoy their music and create music that can be enjoyed by all.

The demo will be released for download on all major sites on the 12th of January 2009.

With each new EP, the folk duo weaves stories that cut straight to our commonplaces, stories each of us have seen played out in our own lives and communities.
Making music gives Sarah Dossey and Sarah Monteen the space to be honest about their life experiences. Says Dossey, “We want to be transparent with our music and write songs that stir hearts. We want to impact our community in Austin, to grow with them and tell their stories.”
Pronounced “relics”, the band grew out of a friendship that began at the University of Texas. The first EP, Peacock Wood, is a five-song introduction to the band’s heartstrings. The songs seamlessly blend Monteen’s strong, smoky voice with Dossey’s nightingale sweet soprano and attests to years honing their timing and musicianship. Following the release, the band was featured on KISS FM-96.7 and The River 102.3, won The River’s Austin Artist Showcase, and have appeared on the front pages of The Daily Texan’s DT Weekend and Austin Christian Family Magazine. In Dec. 2010, they were featured on News 8 Austin’s “Songs of the Season”.
In an April 2009  issue of the Daily Texan’s DT Weekend, editor Francisco Marin, writes:
“These sirens of Texas folk make music spilling over with intimacy and real emotional gravitas…The Reliques’ sound is immediately recognizable: the lilting sound of Dossey’s mandolin over Monteen’s acoustic guitar, overlapping vocals reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac, the sparse arrangements chug along, trainlike and persistent.”
Collectively, their musical influences range from Mumford & Sons to Paul Simon and even include such female vocalists as Jewel and the Dixie Chicks. The Reliques have opened for nationally touring acts Shane and Shane, Phil Wickham and Derek Webb. Their live show is where The Reliques really shine, rotating adeptly through several instruments and matching each other’s voices in strong, sure harmonies.
Their newest EP was recorded by Caedmon’s Call’s own Josh Moore. To Feel and Be Loved is a lively jam session featuring a cavalcade of eclectic instruments such as mandolin, banjo and accordion in addition to electric and acoustic guitar. The six songs live up to Dossey and Monteen’s storytelling aspirations. Whether heartbreaking or resounding this new creation is alive with stories which tumble out one after another, wrapping around guitar strings and bursting forth triumphant, raw and gleaming, belted out in waves of carefully constructed lyrics.
Though they are the ones spinning tales on their guitar strings, both girls urge their fans to find their own meanings in the songs – so what was a song of loss can transform into a song of empathy and encouragement. They hope to take that “shortcut to the soul” to “build people up amidst all the realities of life, whether it’s the joy or sorrow of life.”
Says Monteen, “We do music because it’s in our souls and we can’t help but do it. This is what God has put in us— we just hope when the music hits people they are stronger because of it.

This Soundcloud page is devoted to the work of outsider minimalist / experimental electronic composer & improviser Hermione Harvestman (1930 - 2012).  As prolific as she was (wilfully) obscure, her music resides in its meticulously archived abundance, unheard by all but a few close friends and members of the congregation of a small Roman Catholic church in rural Durham where she played the organ between 1967 and 1995, regularly featuring one of her sacred 'Concrete Psalm Tones' in lieu of organ music during Holy Communion or The Adoration of the Cross on Good Friday.  She also composed music for several amatuer theatrical productions - the best of which being the starkly evocative & exquisite medieval miniatures she produced for 'The Durham Pilgrims' in 1972 which takes its cue from Chaucer.  A devout Roman Catholic all of her life (up until her illness and death), Hermione nevertheless incorporated elements of Folklore, Medievalism, Paganism, Astrology, Earth Mysteries and Cosmology into her world view, viewing her compositions in terms of personal devotions to the various aspects of her life, the vast majority of which were never meant for public consumption.  In her own words: 

'It may sound conceited, but no other music appeals to me as much as the music I make on my own. Therefore I do not seek an audience for it, nor do I do it purely for pleasure.  Music is a necessity I face on a daily basis - I think of it mostly as a curse - it haunts my dreams, and insists on being made corporeal.  The only way I can get it out, is to record it.  Recording is part of the musical process.  Recording is an exorcism.  Recording is the containment of demons so I might keep them like imps in jars and revisit them, at a distance, once the trauma of their creation has passed.

'It would, I feel, be supremely arrogant to expect anyone else to listen to my music when I have so effectively rejected the music of others.  I have listened to medieval music, folk music, classical music, popular music. experimental music - but only in passing, as part of the general ambience of the culture in which I find myself.  I have studied music in theory and practise and upon graduation I rejected it wholesale as being of no interest or relevance to me whatsoever, and yet its influence and inspiration persists in my life to such an extent I can't help but respond to it.  In my life I have haunted folk clubs and libraries of both Folk Song and the sacred and secular music of the middle ages, always seeking the pure heart of the thing, as might the Theologian, digging as deep as one can to touch the very bedrock of this thing we call music.'

A classically trained concert pianist from the age of four, she abandoned the piano at 26, when, in 1956, she was introduced to the Clavivox - an early sequencer-cum-synthesiser keyboard invented by Raymond Scott.

'This was my epiphany - it one stroke it solved all my problems with regard to Western Tonality.  Increasingly, I was drawn to monophonic music and modality, but I was ill prepared to join the elite who called themselves Folk Musicians or Early Musicians; bourgeois sub-sects striving for an authenticity so enamoured of a certain mindset which I'd never been able to relate to.  Neither was I too enamoured of Atonal Experimentalism.  The music I heard in my heart was far richer than that, somehow - at least it was to me.  I dreamed of hurdy-gurdies - of drones and monophonic keyboards playing parallel 3rds, 4ths and 5ths.  In reality, hurdy-gurdies sounded ghastly (with significant exception).  On hearing the Clavivox I heard the music that dreamed of astrological continuities between ancient music and future possibilities; it touched the essence of what music was at its most primal - that of both the planets of the Pyramids; that of the stars and Stonehenge.  To do this, I had to stop practising and forget everything I'd ever learned by way of conventional keyboard technique.  Unlearn the underlying philosophy of Western Classical Music and open myself to other realms and impossibilities and eliminate any trace of it from the sound environment I began to create.  Or was it creating me?'

In her home (a remote small-holding in rural County Durham which she shared with several dogs, cats, pigs, geese and goats) she set up an ever evolving studio which would be regularly upgraded as new technologies came along.  In the last decade of her life, much of her time was devoted to the transfer of analogue tape-stock to the digital mediums she embraced wholeheartedly.

'I feel like Alfred Wainwright - we are both solitary ramblers - he made his books so he could look at them when he was no longer physically capable of rambling his beloved Lakeland Fells.  In a similar way I have made my music as the accompaniment of my dotage - my declining years when I'm no longer inclined to compose, but to listen - as I do - endlessly - surrounding myself with my compositions in an atmosphere of smiling pride.  Did I really do that?  My goodness - the gift becomes all the more precious as I have gifted it to myself.  So transferring all these old tapes and cassettes and copying them onto CD-R, MP3 and i-Pod has become a revelation - but only unto myself and maybe one or two others, but no more.'

Two things about Hermione's music are worth pointing out here.  The first is that, although immersed into various new technologies (in which she viewed redundancy with wry delight), she completely eschewed the idea of multi-tracking; all of her music is, in effect, live.  The second thing is that all of her music is completely improvised.

'The music starts with silence, it comes from nothing, I might begin by establishing a drone, or an ostinato, for this I employ a sequencer, tape loops together with various echo, delay and reverb units to effect the landscapes of a particular piece.  The process is as simple and intuitive as it is completely organic.  In this intuitive landscape melody is introduced on the synthesiser.  I might reference melodies from medieval music and folk song, but always intuitively.  I work with monophonic modes, mostly using only the white notes, often using parallel 4ths and 5ths by way of an entirely improvised organum.  I have tried multi-tracking but it lacks the immediate energy for me.  I think of it as Temporal Spontaneity where all things exist in their own space and time.  It's a sort of purity, a way of simplifying music process which to me can sound overly prescriptive, over-wrought and quite terrifyingly bland.  The bland does terrify me - from the machined landscapes of our once beautiful countryside to the culture of reductive normalcy which has reduced us to a nation of cretins.'

I first met Hermione in 2003 following the minor stroke that landed her in the nursing home where by chance I was doing a short residency in my guise as Storyteller.  It was here, over the space of five days, she slowly opened up to me, letting me in on the secrets of her hermetic world view and the music that was so much a part of that.  I assisted her with the daunting task of digitising her analogue archive for easier access, but she resisted by suggestions of seeking a wider audience for her work for several years until after a second, more serious stroke after which she agreed to permit some of her music to be made available following her death.  To this end she selected 12 albums worth of material edited from her wider archive, from which she edited two hours to be uploaded onto Soundcloud the year after her funeral.

Hermione Harvestman passed away on the last day of May 2012; her funeral was held on the 7th of June.  This page, and its accompanying blog, was begun exactly a year later.  There are no photographs of the reclusive Hermione, though she was a keen photographer, surrounding herself with indistinct images of trees, landscapes, rivers and medieval carvings along with countless postcards gathered from museums and galleries over the years, all of which she used as a visual inspiration for her music.  All the images here are taken from this visual archives.

I hope you find something in this music which, I feel, is as familiar as it is utterly strange; the work of an eccentric, for sure, but such idiosyncrasy is worthy of our enduring attention and, indeed, I hope, affection.

i quite like singing. sometimes. mainly in the shower, because the echo makes me feel like mariah carey when i'm belting out the tunes. i like pretty much any kind of music. apart from rubbish stuff, like screamo and majorly heavy rock/ punk shit. other than that, i'm down with anything :)
i'm seventeen and i live in leicester. lively. thank goodness i'm planning on escaping to uni this year :) after that, travelling, bumming around doing nothing and winning the lottery. and children, a hot husband and a dog and a cat and white picket fences and veggie patches and all that jazz.
i don't really have any hobbies, i used to play a lot of sport, but these days it's all about the crosstrainer in my living room and a bit of david guetta pumping out the speakers :) i like starbucks, shopping, my blackberry and all that other cliched nonsense. i like being alone, but i love my girls more.

1990 -The Tunnel – The UK’s first super club where design and music merged spectacularly and took clubbing in the UK onto a whole new plane. The club still trades to this day and the concept was adopted by other UK operators, including Cream in Liverpool and London’s Ministry Of Sound.

1995 -The Apartment – Glasgow’s first members club where Colin hosted parties for the hippest bands and celebrities, including Natalie Umbruglia, Oasis, The Clash, INXS, The Spice Girls & David Beckham, Giorgio Armani, Paul Smith, Sir Terrance Conran, Ocean Colour Scene, Simply Red, Scottish Peoples Film Festival, Jude Law, Kevin McKidd, Robert Carlisle, Sean Pertwee and Ewan McGregor, to name but a few.

After a 4-year old lack of vacation, i did have a fantastic summer vacation at Tenedos. (Aug 14-18 at 2017) Swam with pleasure, took sick dives in the pure clean water. Savored the sun on the beach, gazed the booties of curvy girls lying on the beach-chair or walking by the shore. Moreover, i enjoyed the lovable exciting soul of the houses in the area. Watched the moon by the night time, wandered the streets full of lively people living their life to the fullest, sipping glasses of wines and even had a chance to see the sunset in the specific spot in which the different couples made passionate love accompanied by the magnificent scenery.

Bitchin’ is Kenzie Clarke and Mama Miche: best friends since ‘04, licensed unicorn trainers, accomplished wearers of wild outfits, and the reigning Queens of Beats n’ Bass in North America. Since their fateful meeting at a Valentine’s Day party—Miche in a mullet and silk pajamas, Kenzie as the sorceress—the two have been relentless in their quest for global dance floor domination. The Bitchin’ strategy is simple: dropping an endless onslaught of fun and funky bass-bombs on party people’s heads.

Whenever a female DJ act comes up, people waste their time talking about them being girls and not boys. Bitchin’ proves that topic irrelevant. Bitchin’ is rugged beats and raw dog bass. That Kenzie and Miche happen to be women matters not. Not only can Bitchin’ hang. They can—and will—destroy. The Bitchin’ sound, developed over five years of playing together, is singular and eclectic, leaving no dance genres alone. House, techno, electro, disco, 80s funk, booty breaks, whatever. If it’s a bomb, it will be dropped.

Like any successful partnership, Bitchin’ works because each half brings their own toolkit to the table. Kenzie, who held down her two year weekly residency NYPD (Not Your Parents’ Disco) at Lucky Bar in Victoria, and now is a member of the Boom the Box resident team at The Common in Edmonton, is the music fiend. She has an encyclopedic knowledge of dance music and a keen ear for fresh sounds. For her part, Mama Miche has over ten years experience in promotions and artist and tour management—first with Mother’s Cupboard, now with Stirling Agency, repping acts like Smalltown DJs, Wax Romeo and Mat the Alien—has organized and managed tours for Top Billin’, Deekline, Nick Thayer, Jubilee, Cobra Krames and Sammy Bananas.  From her home base in Calgary, Miche brings business savvy and a deep understanding of what it takes to fill a room with enthusiastic party-goers. 

While they both had burgeoning DJ careers before they hooked up, the two-woman Bitchin’ formation has vaulted them to new heights. In spite of operating from different postal codes, the pair has landed gigs around the world, alongside major electronic acts like Classixx, LA Riots, Steve Aoki, Stanton Warriors, Krafty Kuts, Fort Knox 5, Malente, Bassnectar and Glitch Mob. Together Kenzie and Miche have filled dancefloors all over Canada, UK, Spain, Miami and Hawaii. They are also permanent fixtures on Canada’s lively outdoor rave scene, playing for huge crowds at premiere electronic music festivals like Soundwave and Shambhala.

Needless to say, they’re loving every minute of it. Miche sums it up, “I just want to —rock out and play great music with my best friend—really, could it get any better?"
