Soul Clap Records' resident butterfly spreads his colorful wings revealing The Stalker EP, a body of truly sophisticated music. Written at home in his San Rafael studio Nick Monaco combines his vision for dance music futurism with his roots in 90's pop and psychedelic rock. The result is three wild and original songs: "The Stalker", a psychedelic dance with a sonic theme, "Boy Meets World", a throwback 90's party jam that channels Deee-Lite and would make Malcolm McLaren smile from the heavens, and "Night Shift" a smooth bass driven deep house groove, brimming with creativity and only available on the vinyl. To round out the EP we call in remix contributions from ourselves (Soul Clap) on the classic New York tribal house tip; Boston Crew Love representative Tanner Ross on his signature spaced out hip-hop tip, and French G-Funk futurist Wadz on that gangsta tip.

"I was visited by my muses one ordinary evening in my studio just north of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. Feeling distant from characterless electronic sounds, they let live drums and real instruments be the backbone of the instrumental, feeling inspired by Laid Back and Dire Straits, I added my vocal. Only a few hours later, The Stalker came to life like Frankenstein, eager to creep into your soul and amuse. The b-side "Boy Meets World," is a response to "Naked Is My Nature," my first ep on Soul Clap Records, which saw a young boy spilling his heart on wax. After nearly a year of touring all over the world, my cocoon has been cracked and the butterfly is spreading his wings. Nice to meet you, young world."

Earlier this year, Subwax Bcn made an important contribution to the electronic music community by having the timeless dub techno compilation Vibrant Forms II by Fluxion remastered and reissued. First released in the year 2000 on Chain Reaction, Vibrant Forms II is widely considered to be one of the greatest achievements in the genre. As it turned out, Vibrant Forms II became one of the last records to be released on Mark Ernestus and Moritz von Oswald’s classic label – a suitable swan song if there ever was one. And that’s it, right?

Well not quite.

If one would search for Fluxion - Vibrant Forms III, Discogs would come up empty and Google would treat it as a misspelling. Until now.
Konstantinos Soublis, aka Fluxion, and Subwax Bcn have decided to pick up the banner and release Vibrant Forms III as a CD as well as four individual 12” records under 2016. It contains everything you could hope for and more: The massive, booming basses, the clicks and hisses, the atmospheric thunderstorms, the opium smoke-scented streaks of reverb and dub echoes. The warmth. Yes, above all else the warmth: Sometimes moist and dripping as in Safe Harbour, sometimes blisteringly dry as in Variant. It’s no easy task, giving cold, dead machines warm breaths. And no-one quite does it like Fluxion.

The Reissue of Vibrant Forms II was an act of cultural preservation. It reminded us about the legacy of the Basic Channel label family, in which Chain Reaction played an important part. Without this legacy, the contemporary body of electronic music would look different and make very different sounds. With the Release of Vibrant Forms III, Subwax Bcn takes it one step further. Fluxion’s Vibrant Forms III album remind us of the timelessness of truly great music, never mind the genre.

We are happy to present our new artist Ramona Yacef whose remix for Joan & Enzo Leep comes out next Monday on Baile Musik.
Ramona Yacef origins' rooted in the far Algeria. She discovers music when she is just 5 years old then she starts to play the piano that becomes in short time her biggest passion. So a long journey in the world of music begins and leads her to discover when she’s 14, the best house productions of those years. Her refined sound allows her to start collaborations with the acclaimed events organization WE PLAY THE MUSIC WE LOVE and with the italian radio shows SIGNAL HILLS and SOUNDZRISE on Radio M2o. Ramona played alongside Ben Anders, Dan Andrei, Dj T, Giovanni Verrina, John Dimas, Josh Wink, Hugo, Ivan Smagghe, Laura Jones, Radioslave, Scuba, Steve Bug, Yaya and many more. This opens up new horizons which leads her to work in many italian cities from Varese to Palermo via Rome where she played at the famous Rashomon Club for the italian organization She Made. Based in Paris now, Ramona intensifies her productions and played alongside Gauthier DM, Jedsa Soundorom, Jef k, Dj W!LD and Jackmaster.
