We look at Elijah's story at the point where he has had a major victory and yet is threatened with death, which causes him to flee. 

Elijah had Fear, Depression, Disappointment and God asking him what he is doing there after helping him. 

Through it all, we see that God was with Elijah, he gave Elijah rest and recuperation, and was there for Elijah to talk to. The same can be said for us.

Are there times where you find yourself thinking about what God 'should' be doing? Elijah had an expectation of God doing something that He had done before with Moses, with him...but He didn't. 

Our expectations of God should be high but not narrow; expect God to move but allow Him to move as He pleases according to His plan, not yours. Elijah didn't see what God was doing because he was only looking for what he thought God 'should' be doing.

God saw the potential in David, but even when David had the promise that he would be the next king, he didn't stop having the heart which saw him receive the promise in the first place.
