broke beat & busted

i’m broke, beat and busted,
no one i know can be trusted.
bet things are gonna get nasty,
might as well die or get wasted.

death and dirt, they never lie;
if you’re garbage on God’s Earth,
you never get to say goodbye,
your truth is never ever heard.

i shot them all entirely dead,
my self-defense, it was a lie;
no sick old conscience is all bad,
i didn’t want to see them die.

i’m broke, beat and busted,
i’m used to it, I can take it.
they shouldn’t have insulted
the Lord and expect to make it.

should not have crossed a hobo’s path,
should not have tied me with cable,
should not have done it for laughs,
should not have pissed on my Bible.

ways of the heart are brutal and dark,
you can’t rely on them to get by.
don’t really know, I may still walk,
nobody knows what I hide.
