From behind the bolted doors and rusted locks sealing of the lost and condemned souls of mankind, can be heard, the words of the damned. Voices screaming vile and hideous cries of pain, terror and vengeance. Oaths of death and retribution have been scratched by broken finger nails into the oppressive blood stained walls. Time passes as days run into weeks, weeks into months and months into years. Until the sound of the breeze, the light of the sun, and the comforting warmth of hope have been forgotten. Madness is the only steward guiding those who have been forsaken inside. The hour of retribution grows near.       Who will be the first to break the lock, pull the door open and release the demons lurking within the Sweatboxxx?

From Russia with hate comes Tatlum, a producer who has already made himself a name through net releases and performing live on upper slots of musfestivals in Germany, Latvia, Belarus, Ukraine, Russia. His HANDS debut “Mechanical Rite” is a coherent brew of hardcore and breakcore beats, dark atmospheres and spur-on-samples in a glossy, crisp production of ear-splitting loudness.

Producing music since 2003, and having performed alongside the likes of Igorrr, Hecate, Ambassador 21, Synapscape or Wieloryb recently, it’s time for Moscow resident Tatlum to step into the spotlight as a recording artist, and “Mechanical Rite” is sure to popularize him in the industrial and breakcore scenes. Tatlum derives his moniker from a magic stone, told of in an ancient poem. The Gaelic term "tathlum" means a "concrete ball" which the ancient Irish warriors sometimes used to make out of the brains of dead enemies, hardened with lime.

This martial-meets-mystic attitude can also be traced in the music of Tatlum. Even though the ten tracks of the album are quite beat-heavy (with quite some real moshpit floorfillers among them), it works almost like a soundtrack album, all chips off the same block, a crossbreed of syncopated breakcore, 180+bpm bass thumps, the odd wobble and chiptune-ish melody fragments, all shrouded in sample-heavy, dark (and sometimes almost D’Argento-style) atmospheres composed of buddhist chants and eerie overtones.

Paul was born and raised in central Switzerland. Even as a boy he discovered music as his passion. The piano became his favourite instrument. Initially, he played both "his" instrument, as well as keyboards in a band. However, he soon resolved to go it alone.  In 1983 he recorded his first single, "Far Away". This opened the way to his musical future. Following two melodic rock albums with the "Skyway" Band, he brought this chapter to a definitive close and began producing songs for films and meditation as a solo artist.  "Downstream" (recorded in 1989) "an exceptionally beautiful and unparalleled album" of "just" piano music without other instruments evoked emotions in the listener in a way that had never been achieved before. Two instrumental albums with relaxation and meditation music were to follow.  In 1994 came his first great success with his fourth album, "Lanzarote". The album took its name from the Canarian Island with more than 100 volcanoes. It is an extraordinary album, which Paul recorded together with a number of Swiss musicians. The booklet contains photographs of the island. Michel Richter wrote a poem to accompany each song. The album almost went gold in Switzerland, and was very well received on the Island itself and in Germany. The Canarian residents themselves are very proud of it.  Two years later his seventh album "Mystic Islands" finally brought him the success he deserved. Passionate and moving songs and melodies grip the hearts of listeners. Paul travelled the Canarian and Spanish islands, once again capturing the unique atmosphere in beautiful images, which were put together to form the album's booklet. Michel Richter wrote accompanying lyrics in both the English and German languages. The album sold more than 50,000 copies. In 1998 the album went gold in Spain and only narrowly missed out on going platinum.  In 1997 followed "Islas", in 1999 "Blue Vision" and in 2001 "Lanzarote Dreams & Meditation Vol. 1", three albums of meditative, instrumental music. In 2005 Paul composed "River Of Dreams". This his eleventh album leads you back to the roots of his exceptionally beautiful and passionate music for piano only, as found in "Downstream" 16 years previously. The simplicity of just a single instrument, a grand piano, is very moving.  The booklet was again produced in collaboration with lyricist Michel, whose poetry describes Paul's music and feelings with apt words. Paul Brandenberg had the courage to record a piano album, without other instruments, for the second time and this in a world of electronic, computerized music.  All songs, with the exception of one, are his own compositions (as is the case with the majority of his pieces throughout the years), genuine and pure, straight from his heart and soul. Paul?s sounds prepare the way to unknown images and distant landscapes in the soul of each listener. He opens up new dimensions anywhere an audience hears him play.  In 2006 Paul Brandenberg composed his twelfth CD with the title "FLOW". Flow represents the feeling of emerging yourself completely into something, relaxing and, at the same time, to forget yourself and the world around you. The melodies, beautiful and full of emotion, move and allow one to dream. Paul produced this harmonious, flowing synthesizer album in his own studio. Once again, Michel Richter left his mark on the booklet with sensitive English lyrics.  "Time" is the title of Paul Brandenberg's 13th CD, which he composed and arranged in 2007. It is a moving album, which wonderfully mirrors the traces of time. The harmonious arrangements allow you to linger and pause in the present. Moving lyrics in English by Michel Richter accompany the harmonious journey through time.  In Autumn 2011 the first "Best of" Paul Brandenberg CD will be brought to the market.

  In these times of short attention spans and the need for instant gratification, it is refreshing to have an artist like Ultan Conlon capable of producing deeply affecting songs like the ones on his soon to be released second album which demand you sit down and slowly listen to over and over. Ultan combines common themes and familiar situations with coherent prose and wraps them around musical styles rooted deeply in traditional rock and roll, country and folk. There is no slick polish, flash or tricks to the songs, nor is there to the man himself. Love, regret, heartbreak and hope are presented in a candid way made even easier to empathize with due to Ultan's comforting and uncontrived vocal delivery. 
   For many songwriters there is one thing or occurrence which has such significance in their lives that they will always point to it as the time of transformation or moment of epiphany. For the Galway born singer that shift happened at age 13 when his father passed away. Ultan's earliest memories are that of his dad singing along as old standards crackled through the car radio. While always drawn to music, until this time he'd never felt the need to create his own. A proficient guitarist who'd been taught traditional folk tunes, he had suddenly tapped his creative well and took to the process with voracity. Says Ultan, "I write as a form of comfort. I know when I start to feel a bit off  there is potentially a creative period ahead."  
   Results of his foray into songwriting came in the form of Ultan's first record 'Bless Your Heart' (2009). Recorded near home with a band he'd assembled after a few years of playing across Europe and the US, garnering high praise from listeners and reviewers alike; "The most impressive Irish debut since Damien Rice’s O" said the The Evening Herald. 
 Perched on the cusp of turning thirty Ultan found himself, in a glossy Roy Orbison moment, imagining what it would be like for an older man who'd been married for years but had lost his ability to communicate to his partner attempt to reignite the fire of their youthful love. Putting pen to paper he came up with a new song, 'In the Mad'. This would provide not only the title for his soon to be released 'Songs of Love So Cruel' (2013) but also the impetus for Ultan to further explore how relationships stand the test of time, especially in these modern times. 
   After demoing the tunes at home, basic tracks were recorded in three days at Grouse Lodge in Co. Westmeath, Ireland.  Final versions were completed with the help of  collaborator Eoin McCann under the watchful eyes and ears of Colin Elliott (Richard Hawley) in his Sheffield, UK studio.
 'Song of Love So Cruel' finds Ultan not just comfortable with fuller instrumentation but also more versed and focused as a songwriter. In a time when the idea of a concept album might scare away not only listener but performer as well, Ultan has embraced the notion to boldly put together a stellar collection of songs that, while capable of standing on their own, insist that they be heard together from beginning to end.
Much of the album's theme is that of reflection and looking back from various perspectives on lives lived, lovers who've faded away and some who've remained.
   On the first single 'Lonely Avenues' Ultan asks the listener to harken back to a different era, not necessarily of simpler times but certainly slower and perhaps less complicated. The generations may be different but the feelings and the experience of a man's love remains the same through the ages.
    From the storming rock of 'Place of Sanctuary', to the gentle country tinged 'Dance to Paper Roses' and on to the stirring duet with long time friend Sabrina Dinan on 'The River Flows and the Wood Creep', these songs change style but never feel out of place with one another. The closing track 'When I Fell In Love With You' completes the journey and finds love is the victor as Ultan assures us "There is nothing left to do but grow old together". 
With a new album and videos coming soon plus tours to follow in the springtime there is much excitement as Ultan approaches the next step in what promises to be a long and fulfilling career. "An artist should grow but at a very gradual pace", says Ultan. "I don't believe in unnaturally trying to force anything". 
   Asked about what's most important to him musically Ultan replies, "I believe sound, image, and great voices come and go but great songs will always remain".  It can be sure that Ultan Conlon knows a tremendous amount about great songs and his should certainly stand the test of time.
