My name is Pim, a.k.a. Poetry In Motion. 
Before I found my calling in music, I spent 20 years as a nurse and care supervisor, navigating the fast-paced, high-pressure world of healthcare. But deep down, I always had a passion for music, especially the hypnotic rhythms of techno and house music.
I grew up in a small town, where I initially chose the practical path of becoming a nurse. After nursing school, I worked in a busy hospital and psychiatric institution, where I thrived in the high stakes, chaotic environment. Yet over time, the emotional weight and long hours began to take their toll. To cope, I turned to music. After my shifts, I would lose myself in techno, finding peace in its pulsing beats and the freedom it gave me.
In 2018, I made a life changing decision. After an exhausting period at work, I bought my first synths and DJ equipment. What started as a way to unwind quickly became an obsession. I spent every spare moment learning the art of production and mixing.
My nursing career has definitely shaped my music. Just as I once healed physical and mental wounds, I now aim to connect with and heal people through sound guiding them on an emotional journey through my sets.
My blend of progressive house and melodic techno with darker, industrial sounds sets me apart in this space and my aim is to take you on a journey.
Although I’ve left nursing, it’s still very much a part of me. My experiences in healthcare inform my music, and the energy of my experiences continues to influence the pulsating beats and soundscapes I create. I believe music, like medicine, has the power to heal, and I aim to create a space where everyone feels welcome, connected, and free to lose themselves in the moment.
Becoming Poetry In Motion is a testament to the fact that it’s never too late to follow your passion. My journey from nurse to techno producer and DJ has been a transformation, and I’m grateful for every step of it.
