Piano Chill Takin' The Edge Off

Wonderwall, cool song from Oasis.  Most pop songs don't sound great just played on a piano, but I could do some interesting things with this one, turned out well!  All of my music is interesting, take a listen, I have a lot on all platforms.  Enjoy!

Great late 80's classic song by Tracy Chapman, recently revived by Luke Combs on the pop/country charts.  Repetitive song, lyric driven, but was able to make it interesting, with just piano.  Was one of the early songs to get critical acclaim for a female songwriter and performer.

Nice piano version of Creep.  Radiohead typically doesn't write a lot of songs like this, but it's pretty and has brought curious listeners to hear more of their music.  Simple tune, but easy on the ear &  I think relatable to most people.  At one time or another, we have probably all felt inferior to others that we want to be close to.

Don't Start Now by Dua Lipa was a cool hit and put her on the map, I love her music, not all sounds good played as a piano solo.  This song has a pop-disco beat, really cool and was fun to play.

Cover of Dido's Thank You, this was part of the soundtrack for Sliding Doors in 1998, but became more popular when Eminem used a sample of the melody in "Stan".

Nice cover of Just The Way You Are- I loved The Stranger album, 1977, there were a lot of cool songs that made the charts.  BJ has a nice voice and no doubt plays the keys well, I enjoy most everything he writes.  He originally wrote this song for his first wife, Elizabeth Weber, but it ended in divorce and he didn't want to release it, but did with encouragement from friends (Linda Ronstadt & Phoebe Snow, who were in the studio at the time). He rarely performed the song live until the 2000's.

Song by Olivia Rodrigo, co-written with Dan Nigro... pretty melody that changes tempo a few times.  This is the lead single from her 2nd album.

Clark Datchler wrote Shattered Dreams, released in 1988. He was the lead in the English group, Johnny Hates Jazz.  I enjoyed a lot of their music, and always liked this one.  Clarks idea was the song would revolve around divorce, (or a break up), but he said people relate to "shattered dreams" in many ways, outside of relationships. Either way, it's a cool song and I recommend listening to him sing it.

I loved a lot of the Doors music & there's something interesting about The Crystal Ship .  It may have been written for Jim Morrisons first serious girlfriend, Mary Werbelow, but there is speculation.  The verses are vague and contain more of a dreamy atmosphere, or could represent a drug trip, hallucination or crystal meth. Either way, I always liked listening to it and enjoyed doing it on piano.

Dan Fogelberg has been a favorite since high school, I started listening to his music, I thought he was really talented as a songwriter, musician and vocalist.  He wrote great emotional lyrics, sounded like they were right from the heart.  It's a shame he passed so young, but his music is still popular.  I appreciated all of his music, mostly the songs that didn't get popular.

Great 70's Moody Blues tune, Nights In White Satin - powerful song played with emotion.  Great background music for relaxation.

Elton John's "The One" , from the album of the same title.  Very pretty melody that I've always liked.  The song is about people searching for, and hopefully finding a soulmate..."where the pieces finally fit".

Great mid-70's pop song by Janis Ian, the kind of song that everyone can relate to.  Most people feel like a social outcast at some point in their lives, particularly in middle or high school.  The song still resonates with people and sounds nice as an instrumental.

Cool 80's classic, very nice version, sounds really good on piano.  One of the songs that I get the most plays on.
