Saint Prosper

Montreal’s duo Saint Prosper, is the fruit of a strong and long-lasting musical union between singer Julien Martre and drummer Francis Fugere. 

After a few musical retreats in the remote town of Saint Prosper, Quebec (where Francis operates his recording lab), it became clear that the abundant new song ideas needed to see the light of day.

“The chemistry was undeniable and the songs would practically write themselves” Francis says.
“These are the realest songs we’ve ever written” Julien adds “We were bouncing ideas about our past and present relationships and we could relate on so many points, the whole process felt really natural and heartfelt”.

The members' ease to create didn’t manifest itself out of thin air, in fact, the long-time friends started playing together at a young age in many cover bands and original projects on the Montreal, Toronto and Quebec scenes. In 2009 they both were asked to join The New Cities (Sony Music) as hired musicians to fulfill the band’s live rhythm section. Because of an undeniable chemistry they became an integral part of the group shortly after. The adventure took them across the USA, Canada and the UK for many prestigious tours opening for acts such as Katy Perry, Nine Inch Nails, Simple Plan, Mariana’s Trench and Avril Lavigne to which they secured the direct opening slot on her full Canadian arena Tour in 2013.

During their formative years as part of The New Cities, Julien and Francis also had the opportunity to be fully involved in the pro songwriting world when they co-wrote songs with The Matrix (Avril Lavigne, Korn, Jason Mraz) Rob Wells (Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez) and Wax Ltd (Muse, New Order) among many others.

The duo’s amazing track record of extensive live experience and songwriting had no other choice but to culminate in a heartfelt project that reflected their current states of being and their eagerness to continue their one and only vocation, music.

Their 1st single “Virginia” will be out on all streaming platforms on Dec 6th 2021 and will be part of a 4 song EP which will be released in the coming weeks.
