Continuing a long and fruitful creative relationship, Tindersticks have completed their 6th original film score for renowned director Claire Denis, for her provocative thriller BASTARDS/LES SALAUDS, released in French cinemas on 7th August.

Marking a fundamental stylistic departure for the band, the hypnotic electronic score resonates the darkly sensual and dreamlike rhythms of the film’s revenge narrative, featuring a new twist on the Hot Chocolate classic ‘Put Your Love in Me’.

The soundtrack for Bastards/Les Salauds is released on the Lucky Dog / Naive label and will be available as a digital download on the 7th August from Naive and on CD from 9th September. Pre-orders for the soundtrack will be available in the tindersticks shop soon…details to follow

I often create my sonic storytelling with a title and intention that I hold through the journey of its birth into the world. This one was different, it began without a title – just a feeling into the frequency of Cosmovision Records. Klaus Dinger and I recorded Hallogallo and the other tracks of the first NEU! album with Conny Plank, the legendary producer, in late 1971. We did not ask a record company to pay the studio rent because we wished to remain completely independent but we had little money and therefore we were forced to finish the recordings in only 4 nights. We didn´t rehearse at home or even discussed our ideas before we entered the studio. Klaus and I started out from scratch and each of us only had visions of the music that we wanted to produce. In the first step we recorded basic tracks together, with Klaus playing drums and myself on guitar or bass. We worked like action painters when in the next step we individually added overdubs. It was thrilling and also frightening because there was absolutely no certainty that we would end up with an album and, if so, would find a record company for it. I guess we were very fortunate. Recording overdubs for Hallogallo I suddenly had a wonderful feedback on my guitar with which I could play thoses long drifting notes that hover like clouds over our basic tracks. Conny Plank contributed a lot of creativity to the recording process, he picked up our intentions with great sensitivity and was a wizzard at the mixing desk. Hallogallo is one of my favourite tracks of all time. The minimalistic drone and the optimistic fast-forward movement of Hallogallo is still close to my heart. In my view it is one of the best examples of my collaboration with Klaus Dinger.

The Found In Love remixes bring together the beautiful acoustic journey vibes of Jackson Lewis and the pulsing hypnotic beats of Tomanka, Mose, San Miguel, Nathan Hall, and Steffen Kirchhoff. The potency in this collaborative effort can be felt both on the dance floor and in a space of deep relaxed listening. May we all find ourselves resting deeply within love.

Continuing to push his sound into new realms through experimentation with different influences, Joaquin Cornejo returns to Earthly Measures with his first vinyl release. The ‘Las Frutas’ EP contains 6 genre-bending, tempo-shifting tracks that form to create a mesmerising blend of footwork, dub, Latin & African percussion.
 
‘Las Frutas’ explores a collaboration with both the Spanish singer Alex Serra and British DJ and trumpet player DJ Swordfish. It’s constructed by a warped and pitched down drum break that has been slowly surrounded by subby kicks, toms and dub chords that echo through tape delays, giving it a wonderfully spaced out atmosphere that provides the perfect backdrop for the soothing vocals and brass instruments.
