"No! You Can't" is a song created from set samples provided and only 30 minutes to use them and come up with a song arrangement for the Speedcomp 45 challenge. This was so much fun, first time trying.

This song was inspired by the tribute performance of Hallelujah that Toni Cornell and One Ruplic did after the passing of Chester Bennington who sung the same song at Chris Cornell's funeral only months beforehand. 

It got me thinking about all the amazing artists that lost the internal battle with their demons over the years, especially as being in the spotlight meant they had "Nowwhere To Run".

Nowhere To Run

I wrote this song amidst the 2020 Black Lives Matter movement following the death of George Floyd. The whole situation made me acutely aware of the white privilege that I was born into, and that speaking out against racism is just as important as checking your subconscious prejudices at the door. 

This piece has been recorded and produced at home during the COVID lockdown, so whilst it may not be of a highest production quality, I am proud of it none the less especially seeing as I'm a novice.
