Wow-this starts off so mellow than really builds - so many influences I can hear all in one piece - reminds me of some of those great 70s pieces.

First, heads off to organising such a multi collab. I did some and know how much work it is. I'm happy to hear the result. the arrangement is cool and it's cool to go for a completely different voice that most people would expect (smooth jazz alto / baritone). you did well and the solo part is the best

This song was released a few weeks ago as a mix that Stephen did. Tez, being the equally talented producer that he is, decided to make a mix that highlighted the interplay between the guitars and the keys. This mix is more focused on the instruments, while still giving Steve's vocals their due. 
  The song was written by Steve on the acoustic guitar. He passed it along to Ken, who added a sturdy rhythm acoustic guitar, as well as his always solid, dynamic drums to it. In short order, Ken got the rest of the Eclectic Collective together on it, starting with Josh, who added his five string fretless bass to complete the rhythm section. Next up was JJ, who's keys, both organ and piano, can be heard livening the whole thing up. Then came Tez with his fiery ripping guitar fills. 
  We were all blown away, though, when Stephen added his equally ripping guitar fills as responses to Tez's parts. It really sounds like the two maestros are having a conversation. Not to be outdone, Chris sprinked some of his magical guitar to fill in the spaces, mostly at the beginning.  
  We all really enjoy working on Steve's songs, although it's been a few months since we did one together.  It's been proven many times before that if,you start out with something good, and you end up with some thing great. We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed making it.

Composition--The Eclectic Collective

 This song began as an idea JJ came up with during one of his Saturday night creative sessions, fleshed out on the piano, drums, and bass. Josh was first on this to come up with a new bass line to go with it, but Ken was also an integral part of that process, as always, too, adding his perfectly suited drums to it. Once we had the rhythm section down, Stephen added his electric guitar, which adds a great howling at the moon aesthetic to it, and his acoustic guitar as a foundational element. He also added the cool slide guitar you hear in the intro. 
  At this point, JJ decided it needed some vocals, too. So, he wrote up some lyrics and sang them, giving his typically light, gentle voice some rough swagger. Inspired by J.J.'s piano, Mark threw down the sax solo and the organ, then added the rich harmony vocals. He also was able to correct some timing issues we were having, by using his able hand in the DAW. Then, of course as every good song needs a good mix, Mark did the honors for us with this one, too.
  This is a true Eclectic Collective song, and we hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it.

method: field recordings, virtual instruments, voice
narration: some of the dirty secrets of self-awareness in relationships ... and one way of dealing with them; this also is an exercise in recovering the integrity of poems that have been belittled, willfully ignored  and poked fun at quite some time ago
image: actually, the device depicted - called a multimemo - before the image was distorted, that is - is included in creating this soundscape, which was somewhat inspired by and refers to elo-covers ....  although those are quite different .... the cover for an album called 'out of the blue'' and the  cover for an album  a friend understood to mean "disco - very". He was a genius musician who already earned an entertainer's income while going to middle school in the 1970s  ... thanks to his hammond and his talent. Only in later years did I understand myself....  that the syncretism of 'disc', 'discovery' and the images of ali baba and a uap is an astonishing feat in itself. copyright jo richter.
