Country Game

Another composition recorded before the war. I hope one day I will return to my home studio. Any support from you is much appreciated on these extremely hard times for our country, our family. 
I could have recorded much new music for the last 9 months... unless russians came to our yard to "save" us with their tanks, missiles, bombs and war planes at 4 a.m. on Feb 24th. And yes, they saved us from our house, from our normal life, from our dreams and plans. They saved my elderly parents from their home and peaceful life in retiring, saved my daughter from happy childhood, from school, from her friends and vacation by the sea. We'll never forget and never forgive it! I'm sure that russia will get what it deserves - each rocket they launch on Ukraine will turn to another 10 years of disaster for their cowardly people.

was worried about posting this theft and all - a song dear to me as i wrote the guitar part 19 years ago.

Whenever a musician hears it they haven't a clue what's being played except the bassline so i'm safe :)

Here's a track from the forth coming album ....
The Rat Palace was our studio from when we first started seriously working together in 2016 until the landlords decided it was time for the artists to go and the tourists to come. It had been Mat's base since 2009 and hosted dozens of artists and musicians since it first started in 2006.
As the name suggests the place was run down, lacked various things like hot water, proper access and heating but it had a vibe, and the people we shared the space with all felt and helped to create it....Art was everything, day after night after day for years.
These 7 improvisations are a tiny fraction of the jams we had there, just a few highlights from 100s of jams. They are raw, unpolished and unconcerned with anything outside the moment. We rarely 'rehearsed' as such at the Rat Palace - just played.
Things come and things go - Vale Rat Palace, you were amazing.

This is a song started when Mark came up with its architecture, recorded in a  slower, more laid back version on his own. However, he wanted a more souped up version with solos in turns. So, he turned to The Eclectic Collective to fill in the pieces. He originally had solos in all the parts which he laid down on the keys, and he had some lyrics, too. However, once he heard The Mysterious Decibel's excellent lyrics and vocals, the song totally changed the direction and the vibe, for the stellar. 
  But MD didn't start the whole thing. As happens sometimes, even without Tez on this one, we still needed to clear out some space to let everyone have their say. So, Mark went in and lengthened the song mechanically. Once we had a final form, Ken, as always, came up with the foundation for the song, allowing Josh to add his version of Mark's bass line. Then, after MD gave us the vocals to form the song, we got down to adding the solos. JJ first added his thrilling opening piano solo, as well as the electric piano solo right after the first verse, which Mark is also playing a VST sax solo in, as well. Then I added my guitar solo, which is the first of the two, with a very clean tone. Right after that, Stephen added his fiery solo, which follows right after with a more overdriven tone. Finally, Mark stepped back in and added his killer harp solo at the end. Of course, it needed to be mixed and mastered well, too, so we turned to both Mark and Stephen for those important roles, once again, which they fulfilled expertly.  
  This past Tuesday, we released a fun little series of interviews over a compilation of some of our favorite musical moments. If you want to hear our voices and some of our thoughts about music, check it out. I realize it's a big ask at twenty minutes, but you might really enjoy it, especially if you follow us, and have been for a while. It's a celebration of all of our work over the past almost year together in various forms. This song was supposed to be a showcase of all of our skills, except Tez isn't in on this one. He'll be on the next one, though, for sure.
  We hope you enjoy this jazzier side of the EC as much as we enjoyed making it. MD's lyrics are about a psycho killer artist who hides clues about his murders in his paintings.

Lyrics was generated by freshbots.org algorythms and a bit changed to my vision. English is not my first language of use so if something doesn't make sense then blame my (non)understanding. It was more like fun making. An artistic way to express for "better" listening.

Main sense was about kind of sick, crazy love, unrequited that drive us to the edge of sense of good and evil. This is the kind of love with our suffering that hurts us and others. And when we can't balance the feeling we go over the edge. And all around must go with us. Especially the ONE.

Fun fact:
When I've tried to sing this for a few first sessions, verse "For I am the creeping nightmare, you're (...)" sounds mostly ...different... Constant changing the sentence "unaware" into "underwear" makes me not finished the performance because of permanent laughs on myself. Hope I would never have to sing this on live session because my "professional" sense will never let me skip the mistake unnoticed.

Domḗnikos Theotokópoulos (October 1, 1541 –  April 7, 1614) most widely known as El Greco ("The Greek”), was a Greek painter, sculptor and architect of the Spanish Renaissance.  El Greco was born in the Kingdom of Candia (modern Crete).  In 1570, he moved to Rome, where he opened a workshop and executed a series of works. During his stay in Italy, El Greco enriched his style with elements of of the Venetian Renaissanbce.  In 1577, he moved to Toledo Spain, where he lived and worked until his death. In Toledo, El Greco received several major commissions and produced his best-known paintings, such as “View of Toledo”.  At the time, Toledo was the religious capital of Spain and a populous city.  In Toledo, he was the tenant of a complex consisting of three apartments and twenty-four rooms.  It was in these apartments, which also served as his workshop, that he spent the rest of his life, painting and studying. He lived in considerable style, sometimes employing musicians to play whilst he dined.  During the course of the execution of a commission, El Greco fell seriously ill, and died on  April 7th, 1614 at the age of 73. This summer I did a small renovation in my apartment.

When you usually do these things, photos and memories appear that you did not expect to find.

I found a photo of a girl who was my girlfriend for a short time and she brought back memories of other times. I remember her perfectly...her name, where she lived in Catalonia, the sensation she felt of that freshness of youth. Who hasn't felt that?

And best of all... my wife didn't see the photo!!!

I thought of the sax as an instrument to create the melody. I haven't written many songs with this instrument, but the idea came instantly with that sound.

I composed it in a few days in October of last year and I'm publishing it now. My friend Clive (Winkandwoo) told me not to keep it for too long a few days ago.... and I listened to him.

Recalling some tequila, love words and more with them in that Ibiza bar, I wondered: “What if Pink Floyd met the spirit of Camarón de la Isla… in my bedroom?” I used lots of guitars, basses, etc. on a 12/8 beat, to enclose 3/4, 6/4 & 8/8 rhythms along.

For each musical piece there is a story hidden inside. Enjoy this "Hidden Inside", played on the virtual version of The Giant. Until recently it was the biggest piano in the world but now it's creator, David Klavins, made even bigger Regina. I got the chance to play The Giant in real life and I hope to get a chance to play Regina this year!
