was worried about posting this theft and all - a song dear to me as i wrote the guitar part 19 years ago.

Whenever a musician hears it they haven't a clue what's being played except the bassline so i'm safe :)

i'm sure i had a better mix, will re-record on my own studio one day when i'm not pissed up on whiskey :) true fact: some of the backing vocals at the end are me saying, 'Hon-da Hon-da Hon-da' like the car

Awakening (Guitar solo)

Each winter here in the UK, small birds enact one of natures great spectacles. Each evening flocks ranging from a few hundred to over 100,000 individual Starlings form up into a single flowing entity swirling above their communal roosting sites. 
Why they do this is not fully understood, with theories ranging from a strategy to distract predators, to a grand display designed to draw more birds to the flock for the purpose of maximising the body heat being generated by the mass of the flock in the roost. 
Whatever the purpose of this behaviour it creates a unique and magical aerial display of great beauty.

The track began with the repeating mallet sequence, then the strings and lastly the piano. I'm finding myself increasingly drawn to improvising around basic chord progressions at the moment and this is another product of this approach. I'm  resisting the temptation to quantize or mess around with the midi in post, so it's all as played and of the moment.

David Lucas and his late father, Bill Lucas, an acclaimed Sydney architect attended my voice workshops held by the "Once Extra Dance Company" back in the "80's". Adventurous , creative souls with no holds barred on what was the beginnings of Danse Danse. It was then called "Dance Out Of Beat" and was a commentary on the club scene that I'd very much been a part of in the "60's" In recent times I invited Annette Scott on board who has brought it brilliantly to fruition along with my longtime collaborator, Jazz pianist/composer, Kirk Kadish. Now we have a new take on the current dance scene with a touch of empowerment as to who has the final moves.

I'm a total amateur so sorry for all the bad parts.

Lyrics was generated by freshbots.org algorythms and a bit changed to my vision. English is not my first language of use so if something doesn't make sense then blame my (non)understanding. It was more like fun making. An artistic way to express for "better" listening.

Main sense was about kind of sick, crazy love, unrequited that drive us to the edge of sense of good and evil. This is the kind of love with our suffering that hurts us and others. And when we can't balance the feeling we go over the edge. And all around must go with us. Especially the ONE.

Fun fact:
When I've tried to sing this for a few first sessions, verse "For I am the creeping nightmare, you're (...)" sounds mostly ...different... Constant changing the sentence "unaware" into "underwear" makes me not finished the performance because of permanent laughs on myself. Hope I would never have to sing this on live session because my "professional" sense will never let me skip the mistake unnoticed.

The Future

Hey…. Snowing now, I went out to do a little snow shoveling and to check on an injured whitetail deer that was hiding along the fence line of my neighbor’s property yesterday. Looks like the deer waited until the cover of night to leave, and probably headed into the riparian brush along the creek down the road. I saw the deer yesterday, as I was outside. It had an injured front hoof, and was definitely limping. The deer was well camouflaged along the wooden fence and bedded down under some bushes. I laughed because the neighbor’s dog was none the wiser, as to the presence of the deer. I was hoping that deer would make it, and survive, as hiking in the spring, I have often found deer carcasses, picked clean by eagles, coyotes, magpies and others, as the winter took its toll on them. There have been plenty deer in the yard here all winter long. I usually shake the dried apples off the trees once a week, and they fall into the snow. Then it looks like an army came through, hoof prints everywhere and nary an apple to be found. Anyway, this song is about my childhood. A dark and cathartic song. A little rough around the edges too. For each musical piece there is a story hidden inside. Enjoy this "Hidden Inside", played on the virtual version of The Giant. Until recently it was the biggest piano in the world but now it's creator, David Klavins, made even bigger Regina. I got the chance to play The Giant in real life and I hope to get a chance to play Regina this year!
