This is a recording on an online performance workshop held on April 2nd 2020. The event included the telling of the tory and a few questions to chew over along the way and afterwards either with friends who can listen too, or on your own for your own interest and cogitation. The questions are included in this recording but you might want to pause it to answer them and then move on when you are ready.

Come on women, would you trust the answer of a medieval knight to that question?

Probably not.

Chivalry doesn't have a great reputation today. Violent men looking for damsels in distress waiting to be rescued, the kind of women unable to open doors for themselves let alone make things happen in their lives. It's an extreme version, but ask any woman and she'll  tell you that the shadows are everywhere....some people like to call it patriarchy....and honestly it isn't what women most desire....

Something must have gone wrong along the way because the highest value of  medieval love was that the masculine should be in service of the feminine, not infantilise it.

How can the masculine be in service of the feminine when the greatest limits women experience are imposed by male dominance?
