Any artist is welcome to send us a track via freshonthenet.co.uk anytime between Monday lunchtime and Thursday morning (or when we receive 200 submissions, whichever is sooner) - and all our moderators, including Tom Robinson, will listen to every track. We met Patrick (Lost Desert) and Sandra on a sunny spring afternoon in Brooklyn on the day we were playing for the ZERO Masquerade! and one thing was crystal clear from that point onwards: they are the type of people you feel like you've known deeply for many lifetimes. over and over.

Fast forward a year and a bit later and here we are remixing his track with Simon Vuarambon for his new born label Souksonic.

Our quiet place

I was in the mood to write something heavy and came up with a song inspired by the dread of a diminished 7th chord.  However, there is a counter point to pull it up out of the gloom and impart some beauty.

Ruth wrote Way the Wind Blows when she was 12 years old. The lyrics reflect on missing her dad whilst growing up as he worked as a touring musician. Now 23, she has reimagined the song with her band, featuring guitars from James Cooke, recorded by Mark Lewis at Germanium Studios in Manchester.
