This is a great deal like listing to the Charles Chambaz composition "Heaven or Hell" -- ultra-cinematic.

A militant piece for a militant man.  Superbly realized in composition and performance.

Une extrapolation parfaitement bien conçue, et bien écrite .... Sujet évocateur sans doute, mais bien soutenu par ce "dialogue" musical ....

Hiding in the attic was Grandma’s belonging and her souvenirs in an old wood trunk. It looks like those insurance policy where contracted in a different century. Do they have any value today and whose life is insured on those forgotten insurance policy?

After we found grandma’s belonging and her souvenirs in an old wood trunk, we found Grandpa’s safe. Thank god, Grandpa had the bad habit of using his birthday date as a combination and password on his Commodore 64. We expected to find some old money, a nice leather photo album of his adventures in the deep see and the fish he captured in the Caribbean Sea with his friend Charlie Walton, which we never met by the way. However, we did not expect to find this insurance policy on grandpa’s life and the recipient of the insurance being Charlotte Walton.

Grandpa's Secrets

In Grandpa’s Henry fishing photo album that we found in the safe, there was all the catch he made along those trips supposedly with Charlie Walton. There was pictures of large fish like halibut, shark, swordfish, tuna, vampire fish, etc. However, only this picture from 1953 was showing two little fish that looked like a nice couple ready for a feast. The hand written note on the back side was quite disturbing and explained why grandpa’s Henry life insurance beneficiary was not grandma. 
The note was: “Charlotte & Henry. Lovers Forever”
Could it be that Grandpa Henry had an affair with Charlotte Walton?

The first and second part of this piece is based on a chord progression I made for a jazz song 10 years ago called “Way Down” https://soundcloud.com/user-461764443/way-down
The third part is a set of cameos starting with a melodic 6th as Tchaikovsky used in one of his violin concerto as well as John Williams for the “Princess Leia's theme”,  “Han Solo and the Princess (Love Theme)” and “Marion’s theme”. Then few notes from “Voyage in the bottom of sea” by Paul Sawtell and finally 3 notes from the “White Swan”  again from Tchaikovsky.

Grandma Margaret was a very good pianist and her Baldwin piano hand painted by artist Alfred Faniel was the living room “piece of resistance”. She was quite overdoing the playing while constantly adding notes and ornaments like the American Pianist Liberace. While playing she was also singing the orchestra parts at the same time but obviously we could not hear the orchestra like she was hearing it. Curiously, now that the house is haunted, each time we come in that living room we hear two movements of her favorite piano concerto from the composer … “Syrel”, including the orchestra that we never heard before.

Grandma Concert Dreams

Uncle Rudolf studied painting in a European art school for few years but his talent was so thin that he went into politic once he was kicked out of the art school. Out of any expectations, he ended up being elected for the Depublican party using false representations and lies like no one before but others after. While he was young, he had a minimalist room in the basement of my grandparent’s house probably because grandpa did not like Uncle Rudolf selfish attitude. For some reason he enjoyed the bunker look of his room and strangely he also spent the end of his life and died in a bunker. The room is still as it was years ago and the haunted television is still showing military movies from Uncle Rudolf’s sad and dark political era.

Tensions.
I look at a candle.
it redesigns its shape as it wears out.

I Am the one who fuels the fire
I am the one who consumes it
I am flame
Devoured by itself.

Its glow
Like a wound in the dark.

All sounds come from the initial spoken phrase 'Why don't you stop' .. and roughly follow the shape of it's waveform for overall structure. The sounds at any particular point in the piece are generated by the associated lexeme in the vocal phrase using an Akai s950 hardware sampler and its built in editing routines.

Performed 'live' straight into the mixing desk via the separate outputs. Sequenced by Logic. Mastered onto cassette.
