As part of the monthly "DayFunk Presents" DJ mix series, the newest installment kicks the fun up a notch with an hour long mix curated by DJ Butter. We've mixed up the format a bit, and rather than a focus on a single artists as in past mixes, we're diving into a genre: Hip House. If you're familiar with the early 90's formats, this goes beyond that into bootlegs and tracks that bring the sound forward a few decades.

Inspired by the legacy of basketball icon Kobe Bryant, Brax’s latest single, Team, dives into the heartache of losing something or someone. Named in honor of Bryant's emphasis on teamwork and loyalty, the track explores themes of companionship, loyalty, and the emptiness left when someone integral to your life is suddenly gone. Through raw verses, Brax reflects on the support that once kept him grounded, mourning the absence that now weighs heavily on him. His lyrics serve as both a tribute to what he had and a caution to listeners, reminding them that the same loss could happen to anyone. Team is an emotionally charged anthem that combines introspective storytelling with a powerful beat, urging fans to cherish the people who truly stand by them.

Superman x Get Stupid

It's All Happening Right Now is an ode to the classic DJ mix tapes of the 1990's. 30 minutes each side, rather than the now standard hour or more mix session. The DJ needed to communicate a cohesive, yet short set that was designed to grab the listeners attention. A mix of house music classics, burners and bootlegs.

Nick's unique style of house music was instrumental in defining the sound of the Minneapolis club and underground house scene for over two decades. Nick started his career as a DJ in the late 90s, influenced by the Chicago hot mix style of dj'ing on B96 FM. In the early 2000s he spearheaded the Black club series at the First Avenue VIP Room, hosting exclusive events that brought world class house music to the Twin Cities.

Nick's signature sound draws from a wide range of influences, including French house, Chicago house, New York vocal house anthems and bootlegs. He has often been praised for his ability to blend nostalgic classics with contemporary bangers.
