Andy Kemoni Hamilton, AKA DJ A-One was born on March 1st at Mt. Sinai Hospital. From the day he was born he was surrounded by people who loved music. His father was a DJ and a producer, so it was only natural that this young kid would later develop his own love and passion for music.
As a kid he used to watch his father teach his Uncle how to DJ and that’s when he realized that he wanted to learn the art of DJing. At a young age his father was arrested and sent to a federal prison. His love for DJing and his eagerness to learn didn’t die because his father was no longer around. Most kids strive to be like their parents and DJ A-one wanted to better than his father was. His desire to gain knowledge on how to spin and one day be one of the best DJ’s of his time made him want to practice every chance that he could. He not only wanted to be the best at what he did, he wanted to make his father proud.
A-One use to practice on his Uncle’s equipment when he wasn’t around until his luck ran out and he got caught. His Uncle realized that he had potential and that he had what it took to be one of the best in the game so he decided to teach him everything he knew. Learning to be a DJ was not an easy task for A-One. At the age of 9 he moved to a suburban town called Garnerville in Rockland County. Moving was a minor set back for him because he was no longer living in Harlem or around his Uncle. Music was in his blood and he fell in love with DJing so he wouldn’t allow his new environment to hinder his growth as a DJ. Every weekend he would go to the Bronx where his Uncle lived so that he could continue taking his lessons and practicing. With time he got better and started mastering the skills that his Uncle taught him. His Uncle took a chance on him and gave him an opportunity to showcase his talent. At the age of 13.he started DJing and opening local house parties with his Uncle.
Things were too good to be true because by the time A-One turned 15 he lost another great influence in his music/DJing career. His Uncle got arrested and sent to prison. At this time in his life he had to decide whether or not he was confident in his skills and ability to succeed on his own or end his DJing career. A-One’s infatuation with music was so strong that he decided that he was not going to be a failure in life because he loved spinning records and entertaining people. He worked hard as a teen and saved up his money to buy his own equipment. All his hard work finally paid off and in 1997 he started DJ’ing house parties and teen night events in the Rockland area. His dream became reality when he started hearing people refer to him as “one of the best DJ’s in Rockland County.” He finally made a name for himself 
In 2000 he started the A-Team Movement and he kept DJing in Rockland with the hope that one day he would move onto bigger and better things. His hard work and dedication got him where he wanted to go in life and in 2002 he started DJing in big venues and playing for big artists like Juelz Santana, Vado, Mary J. Blige, Tony Yayo, DJ Envy, DJ Whoo Kid, DJ, Self, DJ Enuff and Funk Masterflex to name a few. A-One always dreamed about working with the artists he admired and respected but never imagined that he would get an opportunity to stand beside them doing what he loved.
Even though he has been DJing for years he’s still very passionate about what he does. Whenever he sees a turn table his face lights up and you see that excited 13 year old kid who’s anxious to show the world what he’s made of. With all the success he’s had over the years it hasn’t gone to his head. He’s still humble, ready and willing to learn new ways to improve on his skills. When he looks back at everything he had to overcome to get where he is today he’s very thankful. Not a day goes by that he doesn’t thank God for blessing him with his talent because this is what he was destined to do. He counts his blessing and every opportunity that he gets he thanks the people that saw his potential, believed in him and took a chance on him.
