It is a year since my father in law passed away. in the days after his passing I walked the beaches and reflected on both his and my loss. It resulted in this song. And now a year later, the emotion and the wonder of coping with the loss of a loved one are as poignant  and soul searching as they originally were. 

One morning, while on Maroochydore Beach, I reflected on the situation, and the emotion. I began thinking about what it is to die.  Those who are left behind are at a loss. But so too is the person who has passed on: no longer able to partake in the wonders of life.

I am sharing the song, not to get a bunch of likes and reposts, but rather in the hope that others living with similar experiences may take some comfort from the way I have tried to express such emotion.
We all admire the wonder of life. We should also come to terms with the realities of death. Life is precious. Live it to the fullest.

I feel the morning light on my face,
As the waves, splash around my feet
I watch the birds flying free,
Another day begins.

Th ere’s so much life all around,
Sand and sea they share their sounds,

Tikkek is an IDM, or Intelligent Dance Music producer.  IDM is a genre fluid approach to the blending of experimental electronic music often involving sampling that emerged in the early 1990s, and which is characterized by complex rhythms, experimental sound design, and intricate melodies, often prioritizing aural aesthetics and intellectual engagement over danceability. 

IDM draws inspiration from electronic dance music, techno, ambient electronica, and electro-pop, IDM can feature a traditional genre structure or it can emerge as a detached, digital feel with broken beats and glitched sounds, making it a style for "listening" rather than strictly dancing. It also blends the influences of funk, dance and pop.

The name Tikkek carries both an inside joke and a deeper resonance with touch, sensation, and memory. Rooted in Tikkek's Maltese heritage, it stems from the Phoenician / Maltese word tħakkik, meaning “tickles” in the plural. These are not merely playful or sensual tickles, but subtle, lingering touches that evoke emotion and leave a lasting impression.

This concept is woven throughout Tikkek’s music—layered soundscapes crafted to move, stir, and resonate long after the final note fades.
