Throughout his career Hallahan has gained praise for his distinctive singing voice, literary lyric writing style and for his ability to straddle multiple music genres seemingly with ease. Hallahan’s sound has been associated with genres such as indie folk, alternative pop, lo-fi, Americana, blues, roots, alt country and soul.  His lyrics are descriptive, visual, and observational. The Johnnys, a multi-award nominated group known for their high-energy performances, now feature an expanded sound with the addition of a second lead guitarist and two backing vocalists, and a set list punctuated with funk and blues alongside its traditional hard rock anthems.

Veronica Johnny - a First Nations artist of Cree & Dene heritage - is the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of The Johnnys, a high-energy rock’n’roll band she founded with drummer and husband Dave Johnny.  

In their trademark leather and sunglasses, power duo Veronica and Dave Johnny have blazed trail through the national music scene with their rowdy, rocking anthems – a mix of catchy riffs, cheeky lyrics and up-tempo grooves – since meeting in 2002.

They’ve played across Canada, been featured on TV and film and shared stages with such music luminaries as Geordie Johnson (Big Sugar), Bif Naked, Stevie Salas, Bruce Cockburn, Jonny Lang, Keith Secola, Crystal Shawanda and Kinnie Starr.

The Johnnys brought the house down at the Hard Rock Café in Toronto in 2013 with the release of their third album ROCK, which pays tribute to varied musical influences while honouring their connection with the land. 

“When writing the single “ROCK” we took descriptive elements of molten rock and rock'n'roll and applied them to a powerful female force,” says Veronica. “The song is about Mother Earth and how strong she is.”

ROCK garnered nominations for Best Rock CD & Best Group or Duo at the 2013 Aboriginal People’s Choice Music Awards with “Time to Shine” reaching #2 on the National Aboriginal Music Countdown Charts.

Splitting their time between Toronto and Manitoulin Island, The Johnnys have been influenced by the earthy rhythms of rural living, shaping ideas they want to express regarding culture, politics and the environment. 

“It’s inspired us to focus more on natural elements and traditional First Nations cultural themes in our songwriting and lifestyle,” says Veronica, also a traditional hand drummer and singer. 

Their previous two independently released albums (Louder Faster More Fun, 2010 and I Like It A Lot, 2007) have received a combined six nominations for various national music awards.

The Johnnys also facilitate music and inspirational workshops for schools, festivals, organizations and individuals, with particular emphasis on artist promotion, rock music and inspiring creativity and passion for music in youth.

They perform live as both a two-piece act and full band backed by lead guitar, bass and backing vocalists, based out of Toronto, Ontario.

 I began my musical career as a solo artist signed to the now defunct Hawaii label FOS Records in Hilo Hawaii.  Unfortunately the label was forced to close shop before my first solo album was released.  Disappointed, I decided to try something new by forming The Singularities with Kent Green(Everybody's Problem, Crackton).  The Singularities was more experimental and beat driven than my solo material and the album pushed both Kent and I into many interesting musical directions we hadn't previously explored.  We released our self titled debut in 2009.  'The Singularities' went on to win awards from the independent site Garageband for Track of the Day in Alternative Pop,  Best Programming in Alternative Pop, and Most Original in Alternative Pop, in March and May of 2009.

    Stylistically, I draws from rock, indie, pop, punk, electronic, and experimental influences.  It can be hard to categorize yourself but if I have to I'll say that my songs tend to be melody and hook driven.  I use guitars and soft synths interchangeably depending on the direction of a track and that makes it hard for me to try and fit myself neatly into a genre.  When you hear my songs I hope all of my descriptive gibberish makes more sense.  Overall, I try really hard to keep my identity despite my varying tastes, and I hope that comes across.

    To put it all simply, I love music.  Love or hate my songs, I mean them all.  I want to make songs that I mean something to me, and the hope is that if I can be true to that, then others just might dig them as well.

Hartsville, SC is not known for its thriving music scene, much less as a hotbed for urban music. But the city has given rise to an artist whose descriptive lyricism and songwriting ability is set to position at the top of the today’s rap game. As far back as the age of 13, the 18-year-old artist JBFromDG has gravitated towards rap scene and will eventually incorporate some rock elements into his rap music.  As he entered high school, his interest in music shifted from that of a casual fan to that of a potential artist, as music had become his outlet for the reality of his own life. Later in High School, JBFromDG had a new addition to the family. His son gave him new life and a new sense of purpose to work harder than his competition. He prided himself for efficiency and productivity, First in the studio and the last to leave.
 
Despite the absence of a Hip-hop community or resources for rappers in his city, JBFromDG was also exposed to the entertainment industry by way of his Uncle, whom provided continuous support to his music career and encouraged him to pursue his dreams. JBFromDG began making music at age 13, where he recorded his first song “I do this,” At the age 16, JBFromDG realized he had talent and started taking his music career more serious. Shortly there after, JBFromDG dropped a mixtape on Spinrilla called “On A Mission “ 
 
A few years prior, JBFromDG mother was sentenced to prison, and a small part of him became missing and hopes for greatness started fading. Then he found himself pouring out his heart into his music. Mother wanted to see him graduate from high school and make something of his life. He vowed to show his mother that he will be successful in life. Brendan Edwards gave him his rap name, where he shortly grew into it. This presents exactly where he came from and where he is headed. JBFromDG is excited to be the next rising star coming out of South Carolina and shedding positive light to his city and community.
 
“There isn’t much positivity in my community. Black men are incarcerated at an early age. Seeing successful people was always a dream and not a reality for most. Music is my outlet of the darkness of my reality and I can’t wait to share the world with my rocky story as it unfolds.”

Based in Toronto, Canada, The Ocean Cure offer a vast sound of post-hardcore and metalcore sensibilities, with a dash of prog and a sprinkle of pop. Since forming in 2014, members Pauline Taylor (Vocals), Casius Wray-Muto (Bass/Unclean-Vocals), Mike Di Monte (Guitar/Vocals), and Nicola Sudano (Drums/Programming) have been fine-tuning their sound and lyrical content. Stemming from the common theme of the ocean, The Ocean Cure draws comparisons to the calm before the storm and the symbolic impact of crashing waves. They use this ideology within their lyrics to draw unique comparisons to how life can feel like an ocean. Wray-Muto expands, “Music has always been a sort of medicine for me, so I think it just makes sense that our name is, The Ocean Cure.” When writing lyrical content, Taylor finds herself using a lot of imagery to paint a picture with words so each song will offer a descriptive story. She continues, “A definite recurring theme in my writing is nature and ethereal themes. Nature is so overwhelmingly powerful and has a way of making you feel so small.”

After forming, the band unleashed their debut single “Take Cover” which featured Chris Cosentino, who also produced, engineered and mixed the single. The single amassed over 11,000 views on Youtube and guided them to begin vigorously touring throughout Eastern Canada. The band began sharing the stage with artists like I Set My Friends on Fire, Ice Nine Kills, Hawthorne Heights, Palisades, Secrets, Picturesque, and Oh Sleeper to name a few. In 2015, they were invited to perform at The Vans Warped Tour Toronto date, and continued playing festivals like Canadian Music Week, Indie Week, KOI Fest, and Montebello Rockfest. In 2016, the band launched their debut EP, Daydreamer, produced, mixed and mastered by Damian Birdsey. The 6-track record included singles, “Too Close For Comfort,” “I’ll Survive” and “Waiting For You” which has amassed over 14,000 views on YouTube thus far. 

Following the release of Daydreamer, The Ocean Cure is back with a brand new EP, RE: Discover, set for release on June 14, 2019. The 5-track EP was produced and mixed by Sam Guiana, and is a reinvention of what The Ocean Cure is all about. Pauline elaborates, “There was a point after Daydreamer where we were unsure of what direction we really wanted to take the band. It took countless late nights, dozens of demos, edits, re-edits, and so much more to make sure that we created the best album that we possibly could. We worked hard to make a record that shows our progression as musicians. Every song has its own unique message.” Off the forthcoming EP, the band launched, “Structures,” a song that represents the band as a whole both musically and lyrically. On the track, the band explored the incorporation of electronic elements to the sound with an undeniably catchy chorus. The EP confronts a variety of themes like anxiety, the fear of not being in control of oneself, being a caretaker of the planet, the ability to persevere against all odds, and moments of regeneration.

A gifted singer/songwriter, guitarist and producer with a quirky-yet-infective sense of humor, Justin Bank, with his updated roots-rock-flavored music has a broad variety of influences, but they all feel like, well, home.
 
That's because his lyrics tell stories of people you know, places you've been and situations you've likely witnessed — with a lyrical flow and feel that will remind you of a classic story-song, but featuring a decidedly "Americana” thread running throughout.
 
If you're like most fans of good songwriting and classic country and perhaps grew up on the likes of Johnny Cash, Townes Van Zandt, Big Star, the Velvet Underground and many others, you will likely be drawn in by the sounds of Bank's music, with its energetic, vintage-rock, back-to-basics feel. These tunes will inspire you and make you want to dance, take a train and soak in the scenery, or drive down that country highway just a little faster —with the top down and the stereo blaring.
 
It's that kind of movement and inspiration that has taken Bank and his former band mates in such groups as Southern-born SFZ, Free Love Virgins and the Royal Electric, as well as Colorado's The Beauregards to stages across the country.
 
Since moving to Colorado in 2017 he has been venturing out from his home and continues to build a lifetime of performances across the Rocky Mountain Range with his ever increasing band of experienced and talented musicians.
 
ABOUT JUSTIN BANK
 
Bank grew up with a variety of musical influences, starting with the family record collection but taking a different turn when at a young age his father took him to a record store in the late '70s and let him select any album the then-6-year-old boy wanted. His first choice? KISS. "Due primarily to the image of the band’s groupies dressed up with KISS make-up and Kabuki style dominatrix attire," Bank recalls. "I picked up their album Love Gun and for some reason my father thought it was age appropriate! … I have no idea what he was thinking...but it did may one hell of an impression on me. Although I don't gravitate towards that style of music the theatricality of it all has stayed with me."

As a teenager his uncle gave him the sage advice to learn the guitar, Bank listened a was eventually seduced by the sounds of bluegrass, classic and psychedelic rock. A multi year study of the likes of the Rolling Stones, Beatles, The Who, Led Zeppelin and R.E.M. followed suit, all of which Bank identifies as "enormous influences, especially when it came to learning how to play the guitar."
 
The heavy hitters on his personal play list in the last several years have been such artists as George Harrison (his favorite Beatle), Tom Waits, Graham Parsons, Richard Thompson and, of course, Bob Dylan — all of whom have had a major impression on not just his songwriting but on his outlook on life, Bank says.
 
The Arkansas native who says he fashions his songwriting after the straightforward approaches of Dylan, Johnny Cash and Hank Williams Sr. has an impressive vocal range, and many of the songs he performs showcase that strength, such as his original "Smooth Sounds," with its rolling, train-like beat and vintage-rock guitar riffs, and Bank's cover of Donovan's deep cut "To Sing For You."
 
Audience members will also enjoy other great originals such as "Won't You Come Around (WYCA)," which features the introspective modern-poetry lyrical style of, say, John Prine and a gritty Americana/roots-rock sound not unlike that of 60’s Outlaw Country stalwarts.
