The room was nearly empty when I stepped into the booth at Moonbeats,  A sleepy Saturday night in downtown Los Angeles, with just a handful of people scattered across the dancefloor, nursing drinks or lost in their own thoughts. But I didn’t mind. There’s something special about playing to a quiet room—it’s raw and unpretentious, a chance to experiment and connect with those who are truly present. I knew my job wasn’t just to entertain but to create a space where even a sleepy night could transform into something memorable. I cued the first track, a soft, melodic loop with just enough groove to stir the air, and let it build, the empty floor waiting to wake up.
