This is the full recording from our September 2023 edition of Dandelion at The Lido, a monthly record night hosted by a cozy little psych bar in East Vancouver B.C. 

This mix builds slowly through some exotica, jazz, reggae and soul and keeps that vibe into the night with our signature psychedelic style of disco, boogie, italo, jazz funk, and other bits from around the world. 

We tried to keep things festive as some of our loyal regulars were celebrating a birthday on the Dance floor.

Dandelion at the Lido Mix 002 - Serena S & Ian P

Composer, producer, guitarist and vocalist ML Buch dazzles us with the latest Off-Kilter submission featuring previously unheard, unreleased music and an insight into the gentle makings of her latest album, Suntub. 

A dive into her sonic world and a glimpse of the songwriting processes, this hour long collage meanders through acapella and acoustic versions of existing tracks, sketches, ideas, loops, sound clips and other raw material. 

Blissful intimate pop-tinged electronic soundscapes; playful, glistening harmonies reverberating together, weaving and dissipating into air. It’s like the prequel to Subtub and sequel to the next album; the audio version of looking through an artist sketchbook. A reflection on where this journey began, where it is now and where, at some point, it may belong. 

Don’t let this one pass you by, it’s gold dust.

ML Buch is Marie Louise Buch, a Copenhagen-based composer, producer, guitarist and vocalist. Following the EP ‘Fleshy’ in 2017 she released her critically acclaimed debut album ‘Skinned’ on Danish imprint Anyines in 2020. ‘Suntub’ is her second full length release, a double album consisting of 15 tracks released in October 2023 on new label 15 love. 

In her compositional practice ML Buch sketches up her music in an almost architectural way. The raw material is generated through immersion in playing and assembling as a way of triggering random magic. Her live performances, both in solo and group formations, is reflective of her love of combining 7-string electric guitars in open tunings with synthetic instruments and electronic experiments.

The February edition of Dandelion at the Lido was as an all vinyl B2B session between Mr. Merlot & Ian Prentice. 
This recording captures their signature rustic style of full track selections and energetic mixing - weaving together Balearic tinged, jazz-funk, city pop, 80's synth pop, House and Disco, before winding it down with some late night soul & reggae.

This is a live recording of our warm up set to the March edition of Dandelion at the Lido. 

Serena and Ian on the first half with a mixed bag of soulful, psychedelic, jazzy bits, Bobby and James on the second smoothing thigs out with some downtempo street soul vibes, then handing it back over to Ian as things were heating up, just in time for the recorder to run out of memory.

Trushmix 225 - Gilb´R

Andry co-operates Japan based pajama factory Phingerin with his friends. Aside from that, he seems to spend a lot of time delving deep into a wide area of peculiar music. The mix he sent for Volume 45 is something a bit more conceptual than past mixes, so deserves a bit of an explanation :) 

It’s titled “tic toc”, and is about the physical clicking of a clock. He also imagines it as an audio skit of “someone waking up late” for an obligation. It’s a musing on our relationship with the clock, “sometimes it passes fast, sometimes it feels slow, sometimes it stops, sometimes you forget about it, sometimes you get reminded and the ticking n tocking stays in your mind : /“… It comes off super tender and will no doubt make for a nice companion in a moment like now where time is ticking in a very odd way. 

“Is it this repetitive rhythm that trained us to move to the beat?”
