As the creator and curator of the upcoming "Coronation Couture" exhibition, I recognize the delicate nature of addressing colonization and decolonization in this exhibition and the need to acknowledge the negative impacts and injustices it brought to colonized peoples. My goal is to educate the public about Norman Hartnell's coronation sewing patterns during this historical period, while presenting a responsible and nuanced representation of this important topic. 

Coronation Couture is not being exhibited to celebrate colonialism, instead, the Couture Pattern Museum is exhibiting to mark this pivotal moment in history and to show how home sewing patterns were an important part of fashion history. I hope to present Coronation Couture as a unique and thought-provoking exhibition that will showcase the power of home sewing patterns and how it connected home sewers to world events.
