The Remixes for Shokh's debut LP "Flowers Dope" have landed. This one comes from Amsterdam-based Mayo who releases on labels like brokntoys or Fides. With a focus on downtempo electronics, broken beats and techno, she weaves together a wide array of musical styles. This remix is a perfect example for this. Whatever you want to call this blend, it has a hell of groove and energy.

The island was still sweltering, even after the sun had gone down it remained bitterly hot. The beaches were crowded with people who had sought the refuge of the sea breeze as they danced to the sound of the drums which echoed and radiated across the seafront.

Many people had travelled far and wide to be here, by boat and across the ocean to find solace and dance amongst like minded friends in the comfort of the unknown.

Perhaps this place was a paradise, to some it might seem that way.

However, deep within the woods beyond there were far more unknowing secrets to be told.

The machine held no prisoners. It was electric and abuzz.

In the dark room a noise began to throb and echo, it were as if it were trying to escape from the prism within which it was trapped. It wanted to billow and bloom beyond the enclosure and let loose.

This was the power of the machine.

A cruel carbon beast, which left little the imagination as it roared and screamed.

To some the machine was beautiful, a force which kept the world abound. To others it was a menace.

German producer Borghese steps up with an EP on Squid Recordings. A tech fuelled powerhouse of a record with purpose and drive.

These were the sacrifices which had to be made, at times the best way forward was to compromise and break bread. This was all for peace.

As the sun began to set over the bay, they shared a glance, knowingly at one another. It were as if they knew that they might not see each other again for some time. This would be the last handshake for a little while.

There was an eerie sense of quiet across the island. The world watching and waiting for what was to happen next.

French electronic pioneer I:Cube is invited to remix MIND on a new EP. His remix is atmospheric and packed with elegant arpeggios and driving melodies which dance atop rugged bass driven percussion throughout.

The night was eerie and still, the branches shrouded this part of the world in secrecy and whimsy.

The invisible forces lived here, all of them.

We have invited an array of the best producers the underground has to offer to perform remix duties. Our first offering is from Seoul-based duo, Salamanda remixing When You Don’t. The up and coming self-described "leftfield ambient duo", have taken elements from the heavenly, delicate original track and reworked them into a retro, synth heavy, slow-mo workout. The sparse, driving drum break reveals Amy’s angelic vocal layers and Salamanda have added their own distinctive flare, creating a spectacularly bold mix.

There was an opening between the trees, an arena within which a fire burned brightly casting sparks and flames high upward toward the forest ceiling.

Shadows danced and moved in a circular motion, each swaying in time with the beat of the drums. Their faces were concealed by the darkness, for everyone was anonymous here.

The music echoed loudly, sounds of the wild. It bounced from tree to tree, becoming loud and relentless in the heat of the darkness.

This would go on all night.

Benyayer is set to release a new record on his own label. A bass driven affair which leans heavily into the UK lineage of the genre and reminds us why big soundsystems and the wobble of an undercurrent are all you might ever need.

After exploring talents in Europe, Mister T. records is returning with a blend of balearic and progressive house EP by Mahkina, formerly know as Alex Aguayo, from Mexico.

Mister T. records is extremely proud to unveil Alex Aguayo’s first release with his new alias Mahkina. Active for more than 7 years on the indie and electronic scene as Alex Aguayo, the Mexican DJ and producer is now introducing his new house / progressive project. “Sale Por El Corazon” stands as a clear definition of Mahkina : a tribute to the digital retro sounds and a hot touch of tropical/salsa style rhythms.

The four track EP opens with “Attraction Gravitionelle”, a clear dancefloor oriented track, evolving around a mesmerizing acid bass line and french vocals. The emotional breaks and drops add a layer of tension to the hottest tune of the EP.
“Good Old Moments” acts as a bridge between the change in Alex Aguayo style that could be seen in his latest release on Fauve Records and the actual Mahkina project. The balearic nostalgia is inherent to the sounds which remains a very sweet tool for dancefloors thanks to its fast rhythm and the warmth of the dub techno influenced stabs.
“Sale Por El Corazon” was produced a bit later after the other tunes by Mahkina yet it’s really what is giving the relevancy of the whole EP and then its name. Alex managed to capture the brute energy of the inspiration flow, waking up one day at 6am hearing the bass line in his mind and rushed to his PC to record the whole tune. On this track, Alex touched the raw essence of the first Detroit productions with the same influences coming from latin pianos and percussions.
“No Politics” concludes the EP with a beautiful and vibrant balearic house ballad giving space to aerial piano lines.

RIDE’s Andy Bell, recording under his electronic alter ego GLOK, and the producer and Insult to Injury label boss Timothy Clerkin have joined forces for Alliance, a brand new seven-track album released by Bytes on November 8. The collaboration finds Andy and Tim with their freak flags flying, working in a freewheeling environment where nothing was off limits, with influences ranging from Death in Vegas and Boards of Canada to James Holden and New Order.

The woozy ‘Empyrean’, which combines the analogue-decayed production of Boards of Canada and the ethereal vocals of ‘Xtal’ from Aphex Twin’s Selected Ambient Works 85-92 with a fizzing behemoth of a synth line, is a fitting way to launch the album as it was the first track they worked on together. “It’s basically a Timothy Clerkin remix of a demo I sent him,” Andy explains. “I can’t get enough of it. To me, it’s one of the best tracks I’ve ever been involved with since I started making music.”

The sails billowed in the wind. They were all that were in control of the ship as it moved steadily forward across the stormy waters. The sky was cloudy and dense overhead, it looked as though it might soon rain.

Up on deck there were only a handful of men left watching over the course of the boat. They were the ones that had to pick up the slack as the storm hit. Together they were responsible for driving things onward and steadily through the bleak, darkness of the night to come.

It was a wicked dance this. One ship upon the wildest of waters.

Terraflow is a moniker of producer AJ Edward. This time things get dark and heavy on a new EP for Liquid Memory Records as he enters more progressive, bass driven territory and delivers to wondrous effect.

They were hovering above the ground, gravity was non existent in these parts and they were only buoyed down by the mechanics all around them.

Deep in the midst of space it was hard to reconcile what life was like back home. The people packed upon crowded transport, the busy offices, the weekend entertainment. Out here in the middle of nowhere there was nothing of the sort. At times it was hard to remember your own name.

Some could not even imagine it, the way beyond. Yet here they were…

The Jaffa Kid features on a new compilation, Volume 3 on Kulture Galerie showcases leftfield IDM and Electro through futuristic lenses. This cut is a spaced out, synth heavy Electro jam with raw improvisation and wandering tones.

The night was chilly and cold, the sound of industry could be heard roaring in the distance. They were building and preparing for what was to come, for it could be any day now.

Smoke filled the air, it was thick and coarse upon the lungs. One deep breath might be all it took to send you into the great beyond.

For the tenth edition of the Warning 12” series - Secretsundaze, now led by James Priestley, releasing his first work under the moniker as a solo venture and marking a new sonic direction for the project. On WAR1210 he delivers two original cuts residing on the A Side, with remixes on the flip.

The EP opens with ‘Doesn’t This Sun Feel Great’, a rising, percussive track that utilises disparate samples and twisted vocal manipulation for a fast paced, dancefloor orientated roller. Progressive in outlook, organic in nature, the track steadily builds throughout, culminating in a deserving, euphoric release. ‘The Real Sun’ takes the sensibilities of the opening track and leans on its raw, rolling percussive energy, keeping things highly functional and grooving.

The B side commences with Drua’s version of ‘Doesn’t This Sun Feel Great’. Drawing for a sonic palette quickly becoming synonymous with him, the remix twists and turns in a mesh of psychedelic progressive and hard hitting tech house. To wrap up proceedings Giraffi Dog delivers his captivating ‘700 Lakeside remix’ of ‘The Real Sun’, pushing boundaries with an inventive score that transforms the original track's energy.
