Following releases on Innervisions and an album on Get Physical, E&B returns to Bedrock, and even though January is not yet done, 2016 has already been a milestone for LA based Eagles and Butterflies. Hitting Columbia with Richie Hawtin and Jamie Jones, Philly, San Fran and of course playing alongside John Digweed at the massive Bedrock show at BPM Festival, the year has got off to a soaring start. On the production tip things are equally relentless as he adds his own touch to the legendary techno production Murder Was The Bass by DK8. The highlight of the BPM showcase, it’s set to become a global bomb on the underground.

We live at a time when distractions from reality are never further away than our fingertips. Our phones offer us unlimited stimulation and temporary comfort. The possibilities of technology are endless, but they also limit the possibility…the possibility to truly experience and submit to the moment.

For me, going to a club has always been about letting go of the world around me, like a vacation from the nagging realities of everyday life. In the best clubs I have been to, the people were united by a desire to experience electronic music in the purest sense; to get lost in its tension and release. No matter what was going on in their lives, it was a place where, for at least a few hours, nothing else mattered but the sheer power music had to bring people joy. And those experiences - held only by those in that room, at that moment - were almost like the reward to submitting to a secret society. At the end of the night, I could look at my friends, old and new, and without saying a single word, we'd know that what we experienced together was something special, something that would never quite be repeated again.

Some of my early clubbing experiences have stayed with me for my entire life. They are why I'm doing what I'm doing today. There is not a photo, forum thread or social media post in existence to mark their happening, but the memories, the emotions I felt, the way those nights changed my life - those things stay with me to this day.

Somewhere along the way, we as a society have lost the ability to experience those special moments. On the rare occasion that they do happen, we scramble to grab our phones in time to capture them - but those moments cannot be truly captured - and they don’t need to be broadcasted or recorded. Sometimes, the best thing we can do is fully appreciate what is happening in that room, at that moment, with those people around us. 

I think our society needs clubbing experiences where they go home with more than just a picture to post on instagram. That's why I'm starting This Never Happened - I want to create that experience for people.

At This Never Happened, we invite you into a space where the only thing that matters are the people in that room, the music and the magic that happens when those things interact. An event where the dancefloor will be a phone and photo-free space.

This experience we share together may, by 2016 standards, have never happened. But those who dare will always know - something special did happen here. 

The first show will be a return to my hometown of San Francisco on 3 June at Mezzanine. It's a venue I've dreamed of headlining for many years and the perfect place to start this new chapter. If we can make this happen - and work - together, there will be many, many more. 

This Never Happened will not just be the name of these events, but also the name of a new record label. This label will be the outlet for music, by me, that is inspired by and made for this experience. The first song I'm releasing is called "Fingerprint" and you can listen to it below.

Putting this project together with my team over the last 6 months triggered a creative spark in me unlike anything I've ever felt before, and I'm so excited for you guys to hear the music I've come up with during that time.

I look forward to building this concept with you :)

Reinier Zonneveld - Megacity Servant (Original Mix)

Filth on Acid is excited to welcome Cari Golden for a new collaboration with label honcho Reinier Zonneveld. "Bending The End" is the second track they recorded together and the follow up of the enormous hit "Things We Might Have Said", which was one of the biggest electronic hits of 2016.

That being said, Cari and Reinier wanted to bring something new to the table and started with a white canvas when composing "Bending The End", and because of that they ended up taking a totally different direction. This time the track comes in two variations, the melody centred original mix and a dancefloor orientated 4AM mix. 

The original mix starts out with a throbbing, deep Moog bassline, and a round, deep bassdrum, while at the same time blending soft, haunting effects and a fragmented, distorted melody. Cari Golden's voice, deep and beautiful, comes in and sets the mood for a hypnotic slow burner. The bassline initiates a subtle chord progression and delicate production skills elevate the mood of the track. Powerful but stripped back drum programming along with short bursts of white noise bring impact for the dancefloor. A long breakdown starts the orchestra by three of the big classic synths - Oberheim, Moog and Juno - and pave the road for unimpeachable ear candy with Cari's angel like voice as the centerpoint of the attention. All the elements come together and form an indisputable peak; without building up too obvious. In the vein of bending the end to the beginning again, the track's outro ends as it started: deep and delicate. The second version in the package - 4AM Mix - has a definite peaktime feel to it. Powerful driving drums and a heavy bed of sub bass kick lead the way to the introduction of looped elements of Cari's voice. Colossal, bassy stabs hint to original in a disrobed way. Long synth notes lying somewhere between bass and melody introduce the harmonies of the original during the breakdowns and translate it to demanding dancefloors in a profound way.

"This was one of the many tracks which ended up getting scrapped for one reason or another. Sometimes when you listen to something ad nauseam in the studio you’re either going to get completely obsessed with it OR you’ll never want to hear it again. This fell into the latter category and it wasn’t until I was putting the live show together back in the summer of 2014 that I rediscovered it, and to my surprise the track sounded totally fresh again. Once I road tested it for a few months and saw the floor reactions I knew that the track was solid. Nothing ground breaking but a good example of the funky, chunky, driving sort of sound I’m known for and something which has now become a major highlight of the HYBRID live show." - Dubfire

After showcasing his knack for emotive productions via various EPs throughout his career, including chart-topping singles on Hot Since 82’s Knee Deep in Sound and Dave Seaman’s Selador, the Swiss artist Several Definitions now reveals his first full-length album. It should come as no surprise that the artist found familiarity in what he calls the “Berlin style” of electronic music and notably, that of Oliver Koletzki’s Stil vor Talent.

Reborn After The Road is an intense and emotional affair, consisting of 14 tracks crafted using field and live recordings, switching between analogue and digital to mould a sonic atmosphere that emblazons the artist’s core ethos. Although the personal experience that sparked the inspiration for the LP is far from pleasant, Several Definitions’ style is audibly resolute.

Reborn After The Road, the album’s eponymous track, creates a fitting intro for the healing process that is to follow. Its airy pads and majestic strings sonically stand at the epicenter of the expressive album. Several Definitions continues to explore these sounds on vaporous slices like Pontcéard 32 or the more acidical Last Breath. The mellifluous, feminine vocals of LaMeduza on Learn To Feel and Her, as well as Spanish singer Goldsun’s crooner talents on the introspective Trust, on the other hand, showcase Several Definitions’ ability to work the human voice into his musical explorations. Taking introspection one step further towards darker realms, Senelity then feels like a rite of passage into the deeper and more intense segment at the album’s core. Over You briefly signals a turning point, with its alarm-like synths and grave leads, which is then followed by the glitchy resistance on Modular Spaces. The Escape presents itself as a natural occurrence after the string of turbulent, sometimes conflicting feelings – it is a final attempt at evading the depths of animosity. Next, Dancing With Valkyrie comes in as a determined resolution, introducing a new wave of more enduring, complacent moods, also evident on Help and Don’t Stop To Fall. Preparing the exit by way of straight-to-the-point techno, Target Topic rolls into Her, the final piece of the emotional puzzle.

Conceptually, Reborn After The Road is the sonic vessel for a cathartic process, conjuring up atmospheres reminiscing of different phases in life: childhood, the strength of unconditional love, and the inevitable sorrow that accompanies death. The humanity of the emotions on show explains the music’s universal appeal, as Several Definitions offers the listener a glimpse into an artistic healing process.

We are proud to welcome talented Spanish producer, Lefrenk who has been remixed by Oliver Schories and just released a full length album on Greek label PFL records. For this Ep he teamed up with Hells Kitchen who has become an emerging talent from Russia with releases on Cinematic and Moonbeam Digital to name a few.

	 'Lights' it's a groovy emotional track with some driving arpeggiated synths and cinematic strings sections.

	'Shadows' is a dark adventure with a powerful baseline, some nice detailed textures and surrounding deep atmospheres.

	Lefrenk has delivered 2 solo tracks on this EP in which he shows us his unique talent to captivate and hypnotize.
Listening to 'The traveller' you will find yourself immersed into his universe full of feelings and flying notes.
'Other Way' is a happy progressive composition that won't let you down. It has a beautiful break, and you may feel like riding a galloping beat. 

We are happy to have Applescal on board, he has remixed 'The Traveller' creating a massive track. This remix speaks by it's own,  words aren't required here.

To close this EP Van Did has twisted 'The Traveller'  into something a bit more clubby, while adding his own flavors.
