The Oriental atmosphere is inescapable and refreshing.

gorgeous Doudouk sound, and I'm a fan of the Indian / North African style percussion (some Gamelan in there too?).  wonderful blend of influences.

"Moods 'n Waves"

They say different moods come in waves, and that was something I had in mind when making this song! Also if you listen carefully, you may recognize a familiar sound or two:) 

I used two virtual instruments here: the synth lead, bass and the keyboard all come from Arturia Mini-V (emulating the ever-so-lovely classic Minimoog synthesizer), and the drum track was programmed mainly with the EG Pulse drum machine/sampler for iOS, using the 707 drum kit.

This was played using a 37-key Korg microKEY Air midi keyboard as a midi controller. Don't ask what the chords are.. I have no idea:) I just started stacking voices and chords on top of each other and this is where I landed. 

Recorded and mixed in Cubase using iZotope Neutron. Mastered with iZotope Ozone.

Moods 'n Waves

I went on a ``fishing'' trip to make music, and I targeted the wrong catch. I intended to create a song that included rich percussion in addition to hi-hats and toms. I liked the sound of the tom with the delay applied, so I finished it as is. My skill level is that I don't have the talent to remake or expand my image, and once it's completed, it stops there. Maybe even bigger music was waiting for me.

My dad used to go to the bars when I was little and leave me and my brother (1 yr older)out in the car while he got drunk, usually for hours, sometimes all night. This would happen year round but i really remember the winter time the most and freezing. Then one of those nights when he finally came stumbling out we were supposed to go to our new house we were renting, and we were excited because my brother and I had never been there and we just wanted to get there because we were freezing. When we got there it turned out to be a broken down mobile home in the middle of nowhere with most of the windows broken out and the floors were solid ice, likely from the water pipes freezing and bursting. There was no heat in the trailer either. We had to stay there and since we had school the next day at least we knew we'd be warm and fed once we got to school.  When i woke up a few hours later I was so sick that I couldn't talk and had a fever so I couldn't go to school, I had to stay in that frozen trailer by myself 7 yrs old with no heat or food while my dad was "at work" but when he got home that night he brought me a suzy Q. I remember being so upset and crying because I couldn't eat it because my throat was so swelled up I couldn't swallow. Yeah my brother and I were raised by a super dad and this song is one in a long line that I like to think of as therapy. Since I've raised a son and a daughter who turned out amazing and now my wife and I are in the process of raising a second son, I would say my therapy is working! My secret? Do everything the opposite of what my dad did....
