This is a new rendition of the song I wrote and recorded about twenty years ago. The original is a solo vocal/piano recording in one take without overdubs or editing. I posted it on my You Tube channel  but I thought its 8 minute length was too long to burden Sound Cloud listeners with. For this shorter new rendition I sampled piano and vocal parts from the original  to add additional piano and vocal layers to the song.
The lyrics : relate to the observations by a fictional bartender who notices
many barflies (regular customers) treat bartenders like  full-time "substitute psychologists".

Dedicated to all the scientists, health professionals and researchers who have been ignored, maligned and outright cancelled during the last year. Science is not a set of incontrovertible facts be be followed blindly, it is a process of enquiry and the suppression of that process is a tactic of religions, cults and ideologues, not science.

Credit goes to Susana's uncle Sid who, at the age of 84 and with a strong science and technology background,  provided the line, "it's the outward sign of their inner grace". 

A special thank you to C.J. Hopkins for his insightful satire which has helped me keep the last year in perspective. OK, he's not a scientist but his book 'Zone 23' penned in 2015 eerily parallels much of the authoritarianism that is escalating in the world at the moment.  It was in his early 2020 essays that I first encountered the term 'New Normals' to define those who are willingly embracing these political incursions.

The New Normals

Aosta is a five-movement trio for harp and winds. It's named after a small town in the Aosta valley in northern Italy - a place I was fortunate enough to visit in early 2020 before the pandemic put a stop to all traveling. This trio is something of a companion piece to "Courmayeur," the quintet I uploaded at the start of 2021.

Movement 2 is a sort of a scherzo-type movement.

Palingenesis

Liz Davinci was born and raised in California and is currently based in Munich, Germany.  Her evocative vocal style has been called "haunting and beautiful" and is often compared to Kate Bush.  Liz is classically trained on the piano.

Liz's first album, "Obstruction Destruction", was released in 2017 and in each subsequent album Liz has gone deeper into her imagination and intuition to conjure unique and expressive songs. Music is Liz's first and foremost way of communicating.  

Following her first album, Liz released the southern California concept album "Pax Victoria", followed by "QRASS" as well as an album of unreleased music and demos.  She took a side road and collaborated with The X-Friends for their 2023 release "Afterlight" and released her solo album, "Fata Morgana" in April of 2023. 

Liz continues to work prolifically and passionately on both music and videos and keeps on digging to find the areas within she has been hiding from herself, transforming them into songs on a road of self-exploration and conversation with the world.
