It’s hard to say where Serial Killaz roots lay. On one hand it’s relevant to say hardcore jungle techno but on the other hand, it goes much deeper than that. Influences and experience from way back combine with production excellence here with the double a sided ‘Utopia’ and ‘Euphoria’. A true to form trip down memory lane and if the track names don’t give it away, a quick listen will take you back to the days of early Dreamscape and Helter Skelter raves where music was as fresh as the taste of a Ribena at 6am.

‘Utopia’ opens with bright hardcore piano keys, pads and some all too familiar vocals. Of course Serial Killaz are never going to scrimp on authentic breakbeats and this one is full of them. Combine that with clever melodic switches that feel like a nod to ‘92 and you’re onto a brand new anthem for 2022.

‘Euphoria’ takes the lead of deep and meaningful chords giving the ravers a proper intro, something that’s sometimes missing in today’s production. Hands in the air, lighter massive and why the heck not - horns crews if you still have one! If there ever was a tune to pull up straight from the intro, this is probably it.

A ‘how to make an authentic hardcore and jungle mash up’ playbook, provided by Serial Killaz and issued to you for only a couple of quid. Bargains.

Introducing the new monthly mix series, founded by Hull-based DJ Cookie Tee, the WUBS (Women United By Sound) series aims to unite, uplift, and highlight the incredible women within the bass music scene.

While representation has undoubtedly improved in recent years, this is only part of the equation. It is clear that women in our scene still face challenges, and there is always room for continued progress. This is why I decided to start this series and give these women an extra place to be heard! 

This series will feature a carefully curated selection of talented DJs, ranging from emerging artists who deserve greater recognition, to more established DJs who are already hosting radio shows, streams, performing at events, and touring the globe. These women deserve both respect and recognition for their dedication and contribution to the craft.

The love of Drum and Bass unites this collective of talented women, but the DnB Girls don't stop there! They also express their creativity, celebrate diversity, and push boundaries.

Introducing my second guest Blondy! (The jungle queen!) 

Blondy transcends conventional labels. She is not a sweet, well-behaved performer simply spinning on the decks for the audience's pleasure, nor a novelty addition to a male-dominated industry. Blondy is not just a female DJ; she is a DJ, an artist, and an advocate for disabled and chronically ill individuals. Unafraid to push boundaries and defy the status quo, her artistry challenges expectations.

Her sound reflects this boldness—deep, rolling, and uncompromising, with intricate amens and unexpected twists. While her influences may be familiar to some, Blondy’s work is distinctly her own. Since her breakthrough performances across South Wales and the South West, she has cultivated a dedicated online support network, particularly in advocating for chronic illness and hidden disabilities—struggles she personally faces. Despite ongoing health challenges, Blondy continues to thrive, with her mixes, events, and advocacy work flourishing even as she recovers from flare-ups. Her determination is unwavering; no obstacle can stop her from pursuing her passion.

In addition to her DJ career, Blondy has demonstrated her versatility as a radio show host for *Made in Roath Radio* on Solstice Day 2021, and as a guest on platforms like *Newy Bass Crew* (Australia), *Pure West Radio*, and *Calon FM*. 

Blondy has shared stages with some of the biggest names in the scene, including LTJ Bukem, Mantra, Fixate, Coco Bryce, Aries, Upgrade, Mandidextrous, Kara, [IVY], and Gnasha, to name a few. She is a staple in the South Wales and Bristol music scenes, regularly performing and supporting local brands such as Linked, Noise Makers, and LOR. As part of Concrete Junglists, Cardiff’s globally recognized streetwear and event brand, Blondy has contributed to the cultivation of some of the underground scene’s brightest talents.

As the co-founder and owner of SHWSH, a Newport-based brand inspired by her love for the Welsh underground music scene and sound system culture, Blondy has become an integral part of South Wales' new generation of DJs. Despite facing the challenges of living with a chronic illness, she has built a successful and impactful career, achieving feats few newcomers in the scene have.

Currently, Blondy is expanding her career into music production, working on Jungle rollers and Ragga Drum & Bass. She believes that focusing on production will allow her to grow as a well-rounded Drum & Bass artist and inspire others through her music.
