Young Jay Lyrical is a dedicated hip hop artist Born and raised in Neworleans, La. You can relate to everything hes saying through his music as if you were there. Lyrical Militant is a socially conscious Hip-Hop artist from Winnipeg, Manitoba. The Canadian-Pakistani emcee philosophizes in rhyme with slap-you-in-the-face lyricism over infectious heavy drums and soulful, South-Asian influenced melodies. Named Uptown Magazine’s “One to Watch” twice within the same year, Militant’s “throwback” flow can be heard on his latest mixtape project, “Shock and Awe.” It’s available online at www.LyricalMilitant.com as a free download.   

Lyrical Militant’s debut full-length album, “Prelude to Revolution,” will be in stores and online January 20th, 2012 and features production from K-Salaam and Beatnick, Lomaticc and many others. The 16 track LP is the first in a trilogy of albums from the politically charged emcee. The 3 albums are related in theme and tell the stories from what Militant simply describes as the “calm before the storm” up to the “aftermath.” Prelude to Revolution is dubbed “Book 1.” Following the release of the album, Militant’s high-energy live show can be seen at his planned Western Canada tour from Manitoba to British Columbia.

After releasing his first mixtape in 2008, Lyrical Militant received glowing reviews from entertainment publications, critics and radio stations alike. Described as “always entertaining” by Uptown Magazine, and as having “a strong lyrical flow with boss beats throughout,” the rap artist hopes to exceed expectations with his upcoming album release. With song titles like “Humanity’s Tragedy,” “Four Twenty” and “Young’n Restless (A Ho Story),” and topics including war, sex, and religion, what’s in store is no doubt controversial. 

Militant has shared the stage with many great acts, including Akil the MC from Jurassic 5 and has been featured on a variety of television and radio programs for his activism and his music. A child of the “golden-era,” Lyrical Militant grew up as a student of the four elements of Hip-Hop. After dabbling in break-dancing and graffiti, Militant found his true love in rhyme at the age of 11, and production/DJing at 17.  Originally from the troubled cities of Thompson and Winnipeg, Manitoba, the rapper/beatmaker kept falling into the darkness of a street lifestyle. As he grew, however, he focused his energy on learning about the world, its inner workings, and his roots. Ollie Twist is an American musician, record producer and guitarist. He is one of the primary founders of the underground hip hop label Rhyme Skeme Productions. He serves as project coordinator as well as being the chief contributor to the label releasing multiple solo albums and collaborative efforts since 1998. 

Producing most of his own work, Twist is a principal member both in the lyrical department and as a songwriter with affiliated acts Weapons of Gabriel, Parallel Intel & Frequency 420. He is also a primary feature artist on several albums assembled by the group West Zone; a hip hop organization from Poland under the label International Affairs. In addition, Twist was the main vocalist in the now defunct alternative hip hop/hard rock group The Enemy Concept.

Born and raised in New England, Twist now currently resides and operates out of the Southeast US - predominately Florida.
