Ray Crouch (artist name–Igbo Love Mafia) is a musician, producer, and devoted spiritual practitioner who focuses on creating sounds that move the spirit. He creates what he calls “Ritual Beat Tapes”: sonic explorations of the traditional hip-hop medium that transport listeners into dreamy, reflective, and layered sonic landscapes. He draws inspiration from the subtle musings of nature and its spirits, as well as the longing of human emotion. His work reflects on his own efforts to plumb the multidimensional layers and maps that form interwoven existence, with invitations to encounter embodied experience. This eclectic approach plays with ideas of how a song or sound shapes itself to be meditative.
