A collection of vaguely fantasy-genre music published under a Creative Commons Attribution license (by the original artists). I originally created this playlist is for my own home-game ttrpgs, but it's possible others could benefit.

Description: Warm Mediterranean nights, serenaded by a quartet of accordion, guitar, mandolin, and violin playing a plaintive waltz. Very relaxed, and just a little melancholy.

Uses: Definitely got an evening, food, and stroll feeling. Would be good for photo montages of the Adriatic coast.

Description: Big bold orchestral cinematic music. Intense brass, aggressive strings, electronic bass, oh and a big pipe organ plus choir for added grandeur. Thematically dark, dangerous, and high-stakes!

Janus Turning

You're wandering in a magical looking forest, you've been wandering for days. You're thirsty and tired. At this point it feels hopeless. There's a rocky staircase that doesn't seem natural. Someone must have built it at some point, which gives you a hint of hope. Reaching the top there's absolutely nothing, just a foggy void.

Out of nowhere, the music starts playing (song cue 1:38), and a magical tavern appears. Full of life. 

I'll let you decide if this is real, or if your exhausted, dehydrated mind is just playing you a trick. But it feels real. And it doesn't end.

The Buccaneer's Haul

Remember that time you were lost in the woods and you were visited by the clan of  centaurs, and they were super suspicious of you, but decided to take you back to their settlement anyway? It never happened! That was a screen memory! There are no centaurs, and they wouldn't live in forest settlements! That was an alien abduction. The aliens planted the memory of the forest centaurs so your brain wouldn't implode with the knowledge of trans-dimensional beings... such as themselves. And... unrelated, but... what comes to mind when you think about the smell of wet cardboard and Sriracha?


Magic Forest

Bei Yashima handelt es sich um ein asiatisches Piratenstück. Zunächst beginnt das Stück sehr atmosphärisch. Geprägt wird dieser Teil vor allem durch den Einsatz von einem Bawu, einem Guzheng, sowie einem Erhu. Diese chinesischen Instrumente, sind auch im späteren Verlauf des Stückes immer wieder zu hören. Nach etwa einer Minute schlägt die Musik eine rhythmischere Richtung ein. Die Atmosphäre wird düsterer und leitet schlussendlich in eine für Piratenmusik typische Melodie ein. Im Allgemeinen ist das Stück sehr dramatisch und auch actiongeladen.

Yashima is a pirate-themed piece. The beginning is very atmospheric and is most of all characterised by the us of a Bawu, a Guzheng and an Erhu. These chinese instruments can be heard throughout the whole piece. After about a minute the music becomes more rythmic. The atmosphere gets more gloomy and eventually leads to a typical pirat-y melody. All in all the piece quite dramatic and action-packed.

Barry The Badger

Description: Take a journey though the enchanted forest! See the wood-nymphs, and sparkly elves doing magic and stuff! A classic orchestral soundtrack with plucked strings, twinkly percussion, and gliding harp. Truly magical music!

Uses: Would be perfect for fantasy settings obviously. Something non-threatening, and child friendly I would expect.

Through The Woods

Description: Deep dark cinemetic vibes. Poweful, but also kinda creepy. Shrieking strings, childlike glockenspiel, pounding drums, and an unsettling bass, come together to form a movie theme. Think Tim Burton fantasy - unsettling, but darkly comic.

Uses: Perfect movie trailer soundtrack for twisted dark fantasy films.
