Специально к моей вечеринке в далеком августе 2009 года, Jeremy “Underground Paris” записал подкаст, который стал классикой. Уже и нечего добавить об этом миксе, есть только желание чтобы он продолжал жить. Сегодня я перезаливаю микс в сеть в третий раз: чтобы „вспомнить былое, а также порадоваться успеху человека, который сам сделал себя и стал одним из главных ключевых фигур возрождения популярности традиционной американской хаус-музыки“ (Facebook, 2014).

По традиции, наше с Джереми интервью. 

1. Как появился твой псевдоним “Underground Paris”? 
Однажды я понял, что нуждаюсь в творческом псевдониме, как каждый диск-жокей. Поскольку мое имя (Jeremy Fichon) не звучит достаточно хорошо, я должен был что–то выдумать. С детства я был влюблен в слово “underground”, и очень любил его использовать. В 2005 я даже решил сделать татуировку на шее с этим словом, так что если однажды меня переклинит и я решу “всплыть” на поверхность (overground), эта татуировка напомнит о моей реальной позиции. Для меня underground –– состояние души, образ жизни. В каком-то роде параллельный мир, противостояние. Поэтому я очень нуждался в этом слове для своего ника. А еще я родился в Париже. Не сказал бы, что я особо люблю свой город, просто оттуда, и это факт. Отсюда и “Underground Paris”, с неправильным порядком слов (должно быть Paris Underground, но наоборот звучит круче). 

2. Расскажи о своем самом запомнившемся клубном переживании? 
Как диджей я не забуду один из декабрьских вечеров 2008 года в Белграде, Сербия. За несколько недель до вечеринки, я познакомился с сербской девушкой через интернет, которой нравилось то, что я делаю. После недолгой переписки, она полностью организовала мне выступление в Белграде. Это было странно, поскольку я никогда не мог себе представить поездку в Сербию, тем более как DJ. Я бы никогда не подумал, что там так много замечательных, радушных людей, которые к тому-же слушают и собирают house. Я играл в клубе Gajba, наполненном битком. Это было красиво, народ знал и даже подпевал под track1 от Kerri Chandler, просто незабываемо! А еще я хорошо помню приезд Kerri Chandler в D! Club в Лозанне, Швейцария. Я абсолютный фанат Керри, и как раз были времена, когда я не мог пропустить ни одного его выступления. Но эта ночь была особенной. Я поехал в Швейцарию на поезде, специально на эту пати, и должен сказать, Керри и его коллега Gate Ah, взорвали танцпол!

3. Я знаю, что ты был с визитом в Москве и играл в баре Дениса Симачева. Как это случилось, и что ты можешь рассказать об этом городе? 
Связь с Москвой, как и с Сербией, наладилась через интернет. Два года назад я открыл для себя Anton Zap (через 4×12″ Unity Kolabo на лэйбле Jus-Ed”a, underground quality). Мне понравилась вся компиляция, но особенно треки Антона, и я просто написал ему. Мы много переписывались, обменивались миксами и т.д., и несколько недель назад, он пригласил меня поиграть на свою вечеринку в shop&bar denis simachev. В Москве я остановился на 2 дня, и возможно, это слишком мало для того, чтобы сформировать мнение о таком большом городе. Я видел много странных контрастов, как например, роскошные магазины прямо напротив Красной Площади. Я уверен, что бывшие советские лидеры перевернулись бы в своих гробах, если бы увидели все это:) Честно говоря, не представлю себя живущим там, а с другой стороны девушки там отменные! В любом случае, я круто провел время с Антоном и его друзьями.

The start of something very special with Think!Chinatown's Chinatown Arts Week 2020. Co-hosted by YiuYiu, Think!Chinatown, and Grace Chang (in The Wild, Wild Rose) on 19 October 2020. 

Three years ago, while packing to move to NYC, I stumbled upon three boxes of vinyl records hidden in my family's home. Over the past few months, I've been working with folks in Manhattan Chinatown to dig up and digitize their family collections of records and tapes, while listening to the sweet memories that come with them. From Cantonese opera to Taiwanese pop, these melodies orchestrate the soundtrack to our memories of home and family. Now, these records and the stories they hold fill my own home in Chinatown. This mix pays homage not only to my own parents, but also to the families who have held onto these musical memories of home for decades. 

Special thanks to Dad, Vic, Amy, Betty, and a growing list of Manhattan Chinatown folks for trusting me to listen and sway to these melodies with as much love as you all did with your families.

This project has been a community effort, so thank you for being a part of it.

CHAPTER ONE:
“CHANT OF THE SUN SCREAM”
The End, Is The Beginning

Once upon an eon, in a land beyond time.

There was a Monstera, who filled her hand, with the black black soul of endless Nights. The mistakes she made, carried all along, through time and space. She can not ever let go, of the memory of sufferings that she had caused to so many sentient beings. The earthly body of those beings, was turned to dust because of her. But she can not ever, escapes, the haunting of her own regrets, her own wounds. 

The Desert became her witness,
The Moon became her witness,
The Sun became her witness,
In a Hope that one day, Purification will heal her hearts.
All alone in solitude, wandering and wondering, to redeem the wounds of all beings, that became the wounds of her Self.

She cried and lamented:
“Forgive me, pain and suffering, all beings that I had wounded
Forgive me, all beings that caused me pain
All this time, I thought you were my cruel enemies
For Divinely, you were all my humble Teachers, forced me to Surrender
You humbled my heart, in a hope that one day, I will be in rejoice in humiliation”

Along the journey, she met a male Shaman, a voyager from the land of ICARIE. Then he taught her, and savagely nurtured her. And The Shaman sang a lamentation to her,

The Song of:

“CHANT OF THE SUN SCREAM”

“Here is to the grains of Sand beneath my feet
Here is to the grace of The Sun that burns my skin
And let Them, cleanse
And let Them cleanse, my, Soul
In solemn solitude, shall I venture
In solemn solitude, shall I drown the past

And start it all, 
Anew”

More than a decade later, she sing that song of The Shaman. It gives her Hope among destructions and chaos in a cycle that begun to feel obsolete. In a firm realization of:

“With my consciousness of Birth, then Death is my certainty
With my consciousness of a Meeting, then Separation is my certainty
With my consciousness of The Rising of The Sun, then Sunset, is inevitable

That with assurance, Sunset is only the beginning, of a new cycle of Sunrise
In life, the I is dead, and in Death, the I will be alive

Someday, Sunset will give you the blessing of Nothingness
To become Nothing but Everything, all at once
To Forgive, Let Go and Surrender
And welcoming new Hope, The New Cycle of The Surya (Sun)
