A to the K aka Amadeus K sends the next astronomical guidepost for the LIS information center. We met him on the @themuddshow Stream and catched him due to his filthiest selection of electronic 4/4 weapons. Fortunately now he delivered another recording which pump up your dancing veins. In addition, his nickname is AK4/4 and he is one of the owners from Molar Records based in Berlin.

The French city of Montpellier has long possessed an obsession with all things electronic music. At the forefront of this scene is Yamen & EDA.
Friends since childhood, the pair possess an almost telepathic understanding behind the decks and in the studio, a way of working that’s brought them to the attention of some of contemporary house and techno’s most renowned imprints and dancefloors.

Having officially kicked off as a duo in 2011, Yamen & EDA’s ascendency has been an impressive one. Theirs is a story however, that goes much further back. Raised on a solid musical diet of minimal house and techno, the pair’s formative years were spent on the many dancefloors of the south of France, experiences that still inspire their music to this very day.

Best friends and ardent musical lovers with a penchant for similar styles and techniques, it was only ever a matter of time before Yamen & EDA solidified their friendship through music. Quickly getting down to business in the studio, their inaugural releases hinted at great promise, eventually bringing them to the attention of One Records boss, Adam Shelton. Always keen to foster fledgling talent, Shelton has signed numerous Yamen & EDA releases to his imprint and even had the boys join him at One Records showcases in London at fabric, Sonar in Barcelona and at Below in Birmingham.

The relationship is one that’s since brought the pair to the attention of numerous other labels, with Earlydub and LAATE among those who’ve housed their talents. What’s more, their music has been played along the way by some of the scene’s foremost players, with Raresh, Petre Inspirescu and Apollonia all lending their support. 

2018, however, is the year that Yamen & EDA are set to go it alone courtesy of their own Maison Mere label. A vinyl-only affair that kicked off recently courtesy of the auspicious ‘Retrospect’ EP, the label promises to promote a wide range of contrasting electronic sounds. “A platform to collect and release music without any limits”, it’s indicative of an altogether exciting new chapter in the already emphatic careers of Yamen & EDA. With further releases to come on John Dimas’ always on-point Elephant Moon label as well as a return to One Records in the works, 2018 already looks set to be a defining year for one of France’s most exciting duos.

Next up for our Sesssions podcast is Colombian producer & DJ, Craftsmanship. We premiered his track ‘Just Cruising’ off his That Girl EP on Miura Records a couple weeks ago and we needed to hear a mix.

Craftsmanship began his dj career at an early age in his hometown Cali and later relocated to Medellin after taking a long break. There he began his journey as a producer and connected with fellow artists Camilo Do Santos & AFM. This led to opportunities to play in Medellin’s top nightclubs such as Salon Amador, Calle 9+1, Club 1984, and Mansion Club.

Craftsmanship’s sound whether it be his productions or dj sets draws influences from the blues, jazz, hip-hop, and lofi. You’ll find his releases on Pogo House Records, Inhale Exhale, Hustler Trax, theBasement Discos, and other labels. Now residing on the white sandy beaches of Cancun, Mexico, he is fully dedicated to his craft and passion, house music.

Solid Steel (7th October) There are reissue labels out there and then there's Light In the Attic, who have been releasing long forgotten musical gems with the upmost care and attention to detail since 2002. They started with the reissue of albums by The Last Poets and continued with releases from The Free Design, Betty Davis, The Vagrants, Lee Hazlewood, Marcos Valle, Public Image LTD and the recent compilation of music from Vangelis, Ash Ra Tempel, and Popol Vuh. This is what they said about the mix;
"Autumn in Los Angeles leaves something to be desired, so living vicariously through sound will have to suffice. This nostalgic mix, full of mellow yet purposeful tracks, is intended to conjure brisk snappy strolls through fallen leaves, hot toddies in small bars with close friends, listening to records on the floor next to a crackling fire, and other familiar cozy-type feelings that one might be privy to living in a place that has seasons. Various Light In The Attic favourites are scattered amongst conscientious covers and gems from friends across the globe"
