Bring Down The Walls with Lakuti & Hillegonda Rietveld - Quando Quango 29/08/2021

Originally hailing from Mzansi, South Africa and firmly rooted in Manchester, DJ and producer Levi Love has become a prominent figure within the Northern city's music scene.

For over nine years he's been a resident at one of Manchester's finest music establishments, SOUP Kitchen, where he's strengthened his passion for fusing global and Euro-centric sounds. Like his selections, his own musical output is guided by these two loves; releases which form the backbone of his own label Mas O Menos, founded as a platform for cultural and musical exchanges between the UK and South-Africa.

Ahead of his appearance at Audio Farm Festival this weekend, he puts together a mix that paints a picture of the flourishing South African underground scene, showcasing music from solely South African producers, including a couple of his own tracks.

Solid Steel (7th October) There are reissue labels out there and then there's Light In the Attic, who have been releasing long forgotten musical gems with the upmost care and attention to detail since 2002. They started with the reissue of albums by The Last Poets and continued with releases from The Free Design, Betty Davis, The Vagrants, Lee Hazlewood, Marcos Valle, Public Image LTD and the recent compilation of music from Vangelis, Ash Ra Tempel, and Popol Vuh. This is what they said about the mix;
"Autumn in Los Angeles leaves something to be desired, so living vicariously through sound will have to suffice. This nostalgic mix, full of mellow yet purposeful tracks, is intended to conjure brisk snappy strolls through fallen leaves, hot toddies in small bars with close friends, listening to records on the floor next to a crackling fire, and other familiar cozy-type feelings that one might be privy to living in a place that has seasons. Various Light In The Attic favourites are scattered amongst conscientious covers and gems from friends across the globe"
