MILKSNAKE formed in 2010

Since the first year they played fifty-six gigs and they had also the pleasure of playing with stars like Marky Ramone, Misfits,Vibrators and Andrea Rock (VIRGIN RADIO).

MilkSnake left in spring 2012 for their first tour in London.

In July 2012 MilkSnake played as the opening band to Marky Ramone's Blitzkrieg.

Per Bloland is a composer of acoustic and electroacoustic music whose works have been praised by the New York Times as “lush, caustic,” and “irresistible.” His compositions range from intimate solo pieces to works for large orchestra, and incorporate video, dance, and custom-built electronics. He has received awards and recognition from organizations including IRCAM, ICMA, SEAMUS/ASCAP, the Ohio Arts Council, Digital Art Awards of Tokyo, ISCM, the Martirano Competition, and SCI/ASCAP. His first opera, Pedr Solis, commissioned and premiered by Guerilla Opera in 2015, received rave reviews from the Boston Globe and the Boston Classical Review. He has received commissions from loadbang, Keith Kirchoff, Wild Rumpus, the Ecce Ensemble, Ensemble Pi, the Callithumpian Consort, Stanford’s CCRMA, SEAMUS/ASCAP, the Kenners, Michael Straus and Patti Cudd. His music can be heard on the TauKay (Italy), Capstone, Spektral, and SEAMUS labels, and through the MIT Press. A portrait CD of his work, performed by Ecce Ensemble, was recently released on Tzadik.

Bloland is the co-creator of the Electromagnetically-Prepared Piano, about which he has given numerous lecture/demonstrations and published a paper. He is an Assistant Professor of Composition and Technology at Miami University, Ohio, and in 2013 completed a five-month Musical Research Residency at IRCAM in Paris. He received his D.M.A. in composition from Stanford University and his M.M. from the University of Texas at Austin.

Giorgi Mikadze was born on May 20, 1989, in Tbilisi, Georgia, and began playing piano at the age of five. Discovered as an outstanding musical talent at the age of one, Mikadze performed a piano concerto with a symphony orchestra for the first time when he was 12. Mikadze absorbed his classical music studies and began composing at 14. While attending high school, he discovered Oscar Peterson and quickly fell in love with jazz.

In 2006, Mikadze entered V. Saradjishvili Tbilisi State Conservatoire. After founding a quartet, his career took off quickly. He performed at various Jazz Festivals, including Modern Music Evenings (2008), Art-Gene (2008), Kavkaz Jazz Festival, Black Sea Jazz Festival and Berklee High School Jazz Festival (2012-13).

He graduated from V. Saradjishvili Tbilisi State Conservatoire in 2010, after which he entered Berklee College of Music, earning a full-tuition scholarship.

Noted for his skills as a fantastic pianist and composer in all styles, Mikadze has performed with the Tbilisi and Berklee Symphony Orchestras, composed for plays at the Rustaveli National Theatre in Georgia (including Biedermann and the Fire Raisers), and was musical director for Berklee’s tribute to Qunicy Jones. He has also played in jazz settings with renowned artists such as Roy Hargrove, Patti Austin, Justin Dicioccio, Mike Stern, Renee Neufville, Siedah Garrett, Rain Sultanov, Lenny Stallworth, Amen Saleem, Phil Wilson, David Fiuczynski, Mulatu Astatke, and Kirill Gerstein.

Mikadze was recently selected for the highly competitive Betty Carter Jazz Ahead Program at the Kennedy Center (directed by Jason Moran), where he performed for three nights. Mikadze won prizes in many international competitions, including : 2nd Prize, N. Gabunia National Piano Competition (Tbilisi, Georgia, 2002); 2nd Prize, Tbilisi International Young Pianists’ Competition (Tbilisi, Georgia, 2005); and Special Prize and Diploma, 6th V. Horowitz International Piano Competition (Kiev, Ukraine, 2005). He was awarded a full-tuition scholarship at the International Festival-Institute in Round Top, Texas (2009), and won scholarships from the president of Georgia (2003), Eteri Andjapharidze (2007), Giya Kancheli (2009) and Emmanuel Zambelli (2013).
