On January 16, 2022, Haneefah Khaaliq celebrated the 36th Anniversary of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. National Holiday at the historic First Baptist Church located in Gary, IN. The event was sponsored by the Katie Hall Educational Foundation, Inc. Katie Hall was the first African-American congresswoman elected to the U.S. House of Representatives from Indiana in 1982. She is remembered for sponsoring legislation to make Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday a national holiday.
