'Heavy Soup' is the new record from Desert Ships.

It was produced by vocalist/guitarist Mikey Buckley and recorded/mixed at his home studio during the global pandemic. The trio completed by Daniel McLean (bass) and Claude Trejonis (drums)have written and arranged their best material to date. Tim Turan (Supergrass, Swervedriver) once again did the magical mastering. 

The songs themes vary from isolation to cabin fever, from computer paranoia to phone addiction, and even to the spectator sport of watching strange neighbourly habits over the past year. 

Gone are the lush cinematic mid tempo dreamscapes of its predecessor, and in come fuzz pedals, phased vocals, synthesisers, vocoders, and drum loops.

'Heavy Soup' is an eight song lean mean uptempo fuzz blast through the cosmos that runs just shy of 30 minutes. It's highly infectious and leaves you breathless and dying to hit play once more.

London’s Desert Ships announce the release of new single ‘Fire on the Moon’ to accompany the release of album 'Heavy Soup' on 28th April 2023.

Drawing influence from Garage Rock, Dream Pop, and Neo-psychedelia - the result is a catchy and melodic two and a half minute fuzz bass and synthesiser driven song that tells the tale of a blue collar worker living and working in orbit, spending his days cleaning satellites and his nights missing his family back on earth.

The production duties are handled gloriously by Mikey Buckley (vocals/guitars), with the line-up completed by Daniel McLean (bass/keys), and Claude Trejonis (drums/vocals). Ecstatic reactions to their recent Hope n’ Anchor live show confirmed that “Desert Ships are a fantastic band that deliver groovy, hypnotic tunes” (Music Is To Blame), and that ‘Fire On The Moon’ is surely destined to join ‘Neon’ in sailing out on the airwaves.

The track’s accompanying video, directed by Gil De Ray, stars Jimmy Morgan channeling his inner ‘The Man Who Fell To Earth’.
