"Not There Yet" is the 3rd recording by the Chicago Yestet which is a 13-piece band consisting of 7 horns, rhythm section, and 2 vocalists. The title track addresses the persistent problem of race relations in this country and is a plea for justice and unity. The compositions on this record vary widely, stylistically speaking, reflecting the composers love for an eclectic range of different kinds of music and an appreciation for contrast in art. The music is groove-oriented and provides opportunities for various approaches to composition and arranging as well as a backdrop for some of Chicago's best improvisers to express themselves.
