Cardboard Cowboy spluttered into life in 2002 in the form of Dave and Ant, formerly drums and bass respectively in future wave Leeds popsters Brazil.   “Bless My Soul”, still a crowd favourite, was recorded by these two mere mortals and showed enough scuzzed up raw swagger to get people all frothed up on both sides of the Atlantic.  Claire Sturgess on xfm proclaimed it “such a glorious racket – it works for me!”, indie mogul Alan McGee and LA label Medicated records heartily agreed, the latter faxing a record contract to the office of Dave’s crappy pen-pushing job and lining up Jim Reid from The Jesus & Mary Chain to produce their debut.

Sadly, this is one of those “it wasn’t to be” tales but after such an auspicious start, Dave and Ant figured it would be churlish to do anything other than plough straight ahead.  They were blessed by stumbling on piano pounding, guitar twanging Pat and the hardest hitting, disco bomb dropping drummer around, The Cardinal.

They played a lot of gigs around Leeds and London, honing their sound; a ragged, raging, glorious blend of old time country and the kind of indie rock and roll that’s the birth right of every northern girl and boy.

Another lucky accident was getting to know Jez, drummer from 90’s shoegaze legends Swervedriver, who ended up producing debut album “Unload Your Head”.  Uncut magazine reckoned we’d cracked the sound of “Primal Scream in a Texan roadhouse” and leedsmusicscene.co.uk lavished it with a glowing 5 star review calling it “addictive...a uniquely fine album of great songs”.

The band played the hearts out of these songs up and down the country over the next few months, all the while building up songs for the follow up “Shorthand For Love”.  Once again produced by Jez, it stretched the band’s horizons still further; their country leanings even more apparent with the high lonesome ache of “I’m Not Sleeping”, shades of Astral Weeks in “Lady Brown”, the Velvet Underground in “You Don’t Need To Cry” (with a guitar sound courtesy of Pete Doherty’s trench coat) and the Strokes-y urgency of “When I Set Sail”.

That summer, the band played the BBC unsigned stage at the Leeds festival and rounded things off with a US tour.  Their jet-lagged midnight show in Detroit is a shining moment the band will never forget.  Ending on this high, the band went their separate ways in 2007, raising families and playing with other musicians.  2014 saw Dave move back to Leeds after years in London and someone noticed it was 10 years since the first album was released – why not play a reunion gig and have a party?  This they did on a glorious summer’s afternoon, realising that, not only was it still massively exciting to play these songs together, but that they are now an even better band.  They’re hooked and so, if you can, we’d really recommend you catch them when they’re round your way. 

Striking the perfect balance of DJ, Producer and Promoter and often fusing all three of those talents perfectly and flawlessly, Paul EP is presently one of the South Coast of the UK's hottest properties. Having always loved the wide spread of the harder, more underground styles, Paul was always an avid collector of the rave sound from as far back as his teens. Admiring the likes of the very legends that help build the rave scene in the first place such as Ramos, Hixxy, Supreme, Brisk, Stu Allen, Force & Styles and UFO, Paul's passion for a party and hefty collection of a tape pack or twenty gave him a long standing aspiration to create, perform and promote the very music he loved.

His first rave experiences however would be what aided the encouragement and fast developing taste for wanting to become a main stage artist himself, visiting events such as North's Radical Technology following harder artists such as Jay Prescott, Scorpio, Producer, HMS and Dolphin and getting immersed in the faster, more furious sounds of hardcore techno in Crewe. The legendary Sanctuary in Milton Keynes would follow and regular visits there opened Paul's eyes to a much larger World, providing him with opportunities to see all of his heroes live.

It was during this time of discovering headliners and experiencing all things fantastic about rave that Paul knew for certain it was where he wanted to carve out his own career path. 

Spending days, weeks and months furiously collecting records and studying the sound and styles and mastering any and every form of beat matching, turntablism and roof raising mixing ability; pushing himself until he got it right, Paul quickly attained a reputation for starting the party with friends, smashing out sets at house parties, outdoor raves, small club and pub events and anywhere he could get himself heard. Playing a cross section of harder sounds from hard dance, to hard trance, hardstyle and hardcore, Paul's versatility in musical choice and style meant he was noticed by a number of audiences and in particular, artists and promoters.

Shortly after that Paul entered the Hardcore Heaven Weekender and came second place, however irrespective of position, an important turning point to come out of such a time honoured occasion was his being noticed by headlining artists and international UK hardcore royalty Ramos, Supreme and MC's Marley and Knight. Swiftly making friends with the UK rave scene pioneers, Paul worked hard to continue on his ascension through the hardcore ranks, one party at a time.

Quickly making friends throughout his native South Coast and through a solid close friendship with the teachings of MC Knight, Paul would soon build a name for himself as an artist that not only built the hype in any given room he was playing in, but also bring a crowd, something that would later give him the taste for promotion.

It wouldn't take long at all for Paul to start rapidly building an impressive list of stages upon which he'd played upon either, with his reputation for bringing the party and playing a broad range building rapidly by the month, Paul would soon starting appearing on the line up of every major player in the game. 

To be taken seriously though on a much larger level and to attain longevity and in order to truly make his mark as an artist, Paul would soon have to produce his own material. Having already started to note down ideas for music and songs of his own design, Paul started learning from and built a relationship with another one of his rave idols and now great friends, Ufology mastermind and a key member of the original Raver Baby movement, UFO.

Through UFO's teachings and master craftsmanship as an engineer and Paul's swift learning abilities and creative input in terms of helping to write and build an anthem soon to be followed by a sharp technical production ability; Paul would then go on to create some game changing anthems. 

The first of this legion of soon to be heavy hits was the vocally powerful 'All I Wanna Do', with vocals by Becci, the track was an instant hit, immediately signed to Supreme's THC Records label and released on 12" and digital. The track became a smash seller, topping many underground dance charts and was even remixed by international hardcore headliner Hixxy and was featured on the three CD compilation album True Hardcore 2 as part of Supreme and UFO's mix CD. 

Paul would follow this glorious debut up, again re-teaming with sensational vocalist Becci, on their second smash anthem 'Walk On Water'. This time around it would be Hixxy that did the signing duties, picking the track up for sale and distribution through his Raver Baby label; he later remixed the track and it featured prominently on the chart smashing three CD compilation album Clubland X-Treme Hardcore 5 fully launching Paul into the main stage limelight.

This would be a quite literal action, as with two of the then biggest hardcore sing along vocal anthems of the time doing the rounds to big numbers and scores of fans, Paul and Becci started to show for live PA's of the track at many massive events UK wide, this would of course be accompanied by a DJ set from Paul, that would give him the opportunity to showcase some of the other productions he had been working on in the studio with both UFO and breathtaking breakthrough talent MOB. Together they would craft such huge tracks as 'Dreamed a Dream', 'Are You An Angel', 'Deeper', 'Skydive', 'Synathasia', 'Let Me Tell You', 'Thunder In Our Rave', 'The Shizzle' and 'Real'.

What followed as a direct result would be an armoury of hardcore weapons helping Paul build a set that would see him be booked again and again by some of the scenes most powerful players including Raverbaby, HTID, Hardcore Heaven, Slammin Vinyl, Uproar, HTID In The Sun, Fusion, Contact, Resonate, Electric, +12, THC, Experi-mental, Strictly Come Raving, Secret Society, High Velocity, Asylum and many, many more.

From here Paul took the leap into promotion, creating his own following had meant he had confidence in pulling off his own event, after all, both record sales and booking clearly showed the work he was doing was in demand, so the natural course was to create what would become one of the South Coast's biggest events, Carry On Ravin. 

Matching the perfect blend of the hardest hitting headliners with the very best breakthroughs the local scene has to offer, Carry On Ravin has all the elements of Paul's favourite events, delivered in his own unique style, one that worked so well as a format so far, that the event is still hugely popular to this day and continues to rage on at it's current home of Portsmouth's best underground venue, The Barn, of which Paul is now a regular as an artist for many events at the venue.

Now taking on his own brand new label concept, the incredible No Retreat, No Surrender Records, Paul already has thirteen releases already lined up for the label's launch, offering him both his own platform for new music and encouraging exciting, fresh and thought provoking talent a way up the ladder; No Retreat, No Surrender will also act as the platform for Paul's debut artist album, which is currently in production with UFO. There are also a series of very different and exciting No Retreat, No Surrender events in the pipeline meaning 2014 is going to be a very exciting year for Paul EP indeed.

With a truly enthralling journey both in his wake and yet to come, Paul, like his label namesake is relentless, no giving up, no going back, just more powerhouse UK hardcore singles, electrifying DJ performances and block busting atmosphere fuelled events that just keep coming and thus underlining -  Paul EP isn't going anywhere yet, why, in fact, he's just getting started...

Hi I'm Lili, a contemporary artist and designer who lives in Totnes, Devon.  I sing with the choir Glorious Chorus. I exhibit and sell my mix media work worldwide. I'm also a presenter on SoundArt radio and have a show called Bubbling Brown Sugar. It's a chat show mixed with topical discussion and popular music.  I'm also the founder of The inVisible Project a movement which gives women a voice!

Music in one form or another has been in my life, all my life. From my Mom spinning everything from Country to Hard Rock to my brother bowing the walls with everything from The Bealtles to Wasted Youth.  I was surely raised on an eclectic array of music. I'd been writing songs for years before "Paper" was even a thought. I started playing drums in 1988. Playing along to my mom's Billy Squire and Foreigner records and my brothers Led Zeppelin and Rush records. I knew from the moment I watched "The Song Remains The Same" a live Led Zeppelin concert filmed at Madison Square Garden that playing music was my destiny. The funny thing is, before I even got a drum kit. My Mom saved her pennies to get me a keyboard. An affordable but boring substitute. We lived in an Apartment and you can imagine how Drums and Apartments don't mix. I use to set the keyboard on the DRUM setting and play "When The Levee Breaks" with my fingers. I was pretty desperate to play drums. I eventually got a drumset... Bless my Moms heart. We we're evicted from that apartment complex less than a year later. In between School (which was always on the back burner for me) and Skateboarding, I was always thinking about and/or playing my drums. In High School I met Klaus Ketelhohn, a guitar player and Rush Fanatic much like myself. We were truly "music geeks" at heart. Our band "Abstract" was a cover or tribute band that consisted of us learning note for note covers of songs like "La Villa Strangiato" an elaborate fusion fused rock instrumental by Rush and "Wrapped Around Your Finger" by The Police. I found in that experience what became another passion of mine... Singing. I've always had a high voice so naturally, I was chosen to sing Stings parts. We also got into other Rush obscurities like "Marathon" and I played drums and sang the lead vocals. It was a struggle and I'm sure there are some dusty boom-box tape recordings buried in Klaus' collection of random embarrassments. Klaus and I pushed each other as far as we could. We always have and still do. It wasn't too long after that that we started getting really heavy into Southern California Pop Punk. Klaus and I formed a band called The Agency in 1995 and wrote music together with our other counterpart Chris Drueke for many years on and off. We officially put out a 7 inch and 3 full length records. The Agency was a band that changed a lot from one record to another. Mostly because we all came from such different musical backgrounds. I was never a melodic musician in the Instrumental sense of the term. I used to write all my lyrics and melodic ideas on these giant pieces of Brown Paper. Since I didn't know how to write melodic notation, I'd draw these vertical lines under the words as to make pitch changes with every line drawn. Short lines were lower notes and tall lines were high notes. I needed someone like Klaus who actually new enough theory and had a good enough ear to bring my songs to life and it worked as long as I remembered the basic melody for the first few words. When you decide to play Punk and you've listened to Progressive rock and classic rock your whole life... interesting things can happen. In 1998 The Agency found our second guitar player Chris Carrabba now of "Dashboard Confessional" and "Further Seems Forever" fame. It was short lived due to seperate touring schedule conflicts. However, I was asked to join Dashboard Confessional in 1999. It wasn't until 2000 that I had my first rehearsal. At the time, I was interested in doing something new for "a while". A while turned into 10 years and counting. By the way, On December 8, 2006 Dashboard Confessional sold out Madison Square Garden. Believe me, I felt as close to being John Bonham than I will ever feel again in my life. It was glorious! So... where was I?... Oh yeah, Paper. I moved to Nashville in 2008 (after a horrible run in LA for a year) searching for a more peaceful and easy lifestyle.  I had started tinkering around on piano in about 2006 and wrote some truly embarrassing songs but it wasn't until Nashville that I started taking it a bit more seriously. I'm still no Pianist but I learned enough basic chords to get some ideas down. Eventually "ideas" turned into this project "Paper". Along the way I suffered through numbing blisters on my fingers trying to demo guitar and bass tracks for these ideas. I've got this old Piano that has never been in tune and I wrote my first three or four songs on it and recorded it. I was so anxious to just write something on my own, I didn't care about tuning. Who's got time to tune a piano when you can barely remember what you did 2 bars ago in the song your writing? So I slapped a mic on it and went to town. Eventually I bought a keyboard and things started sounding human. I feel like I've been waiting my whole life to do this for one reason or another... Paper that is. I needed the right guys to execute the parts that I had "Frankensteined togeher". Craig Schlesinger, a bass player I had known for years around the Miami music scene always got an ear full from me about how "I'm gonna write a record and it's gonna be different from anything I had done prior'... yadda, yadda, yadda.  He was always a kind of "cheerleader" if you will... for me and my attempts. It became pretty obvious that he'd be the guy to play Bass on this record when the time came. Of course Klaus was kind of a no brainer. He's always understood and been a good listener to what I'm trying to get out. Even when It was just written words and Vertical lines. I hope you enjoy listening to a bit of essentially what I've been working on my whole life... Paper.

Composer Fred Engler has been creating vibrant, passionate smooth jazz vibes for more than a decade, imaging a studio-full of top musicians recording his songs. Now, he’s realized his dream, and listeners, too, can hear those soulful, electric tunes on the just-released CD, “– 
Since then ‘till now”. 
Fred grew up playing classical piano before finding traditional and West Coast jazz as a teenager,  playing in bands on the party circuit through university.  Then, for a couple of decades performance was just a memory. I really felt the loss of performing, although I was always listening to: Chick Corea,  Herbie Hancock, Gino Vannelli, Al Jareau, Grover Washington, Earth, Wind and Fire, Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, Stanley Clarke, Luther Vandross, Michael Franks, Sting , Pat Metheny,  Weather Report, and many others “ he remembered..
Gradually, Fred’s heart filled up with his own soulful notes, but composing melodies for documentary films and commercial jingles wasn’t enough to satisfy his passion to produce a smooth jazz album. He assembled 18 sophisticated musicians in a Toronto studio. Some are from New York, including sax player Andy Snitzer.  Engler tapped Toronto’s vibrant and diverse jazz scene for a range of musicians including: Bill McBirnie, a Flutist of the Year,drummer Mark Kelso, bassist Rich Brown, Lou Bartolomucci, Tony Zorzi guitarists and Tony Carlucci  on trumpet and many others.
While most of the tracks on “–  Since then till now” are instrumentals, 4 have lyrics.  Fred asked professional lyricist Alan Garrity  to pen words for 3 tracks.
When you listen to Fred’s music you will feel the playfulness and the thought that has gone onto each composition. It is a glorious journey of skill, emotion and shear joy.
Now that Fred feels he has mastered 14 songs in the studio, he’s forming a smooth jazz band to perform live performances. 

Born in a squalid Brooklyn cabaret and shanghaied by a dilapidated freighter bound for uncharted waters, Not Waving But Drowning's rag and bone style and contagious enthusiasm are on full display on the band's second album, "Processional". Recorded in a magic-filled cottage near Woodstock, these tales of mystery, adventure, and poisoned love are delivered in dueling boy/girl vocals, glorious three-part harmony and impeccable attire.

The group makes a joyful noise with everything from violas to vibraphones, banjos to bones, trumpets to tamburas, guitars to garbage cans to giant brass geese. Not content with merely banging on inanimate objects, they also corralled a chorus of forty close friends to add to the fanfare. Whiskey may have been involved.

ReWire is an organization that has definitely changed and maintained quality of the clubbing scene in Serbia. This team of young talented people are Andrija Antic and Stankovic Nenad and they play their sessions till February 2009 year, similar to many recognized DJ's in the world, they literally lifted the crowd to their feet with great choice of music and unique technique. A great enthusiasm and energy that runs through their kits, not only recognized by many clubs who employ them often, but also by many of their fans who regularly attend their performances. ReWire have already become known to many by their unique style and the way they communicate with the crowd. Their sets are painted with many different sounds of electronic music: house, tech house, progressive and techno sound. They performed all over Serbia, and their excellent performances and long-term best confirmed rezidenture and cooperation with names like Gramophonedzie, Dejan Milicevic, Puki, Peppe, Pray For More, Acim, Goran Starcevic etc. For almost 3 years they are residents at SUS and STUDENT stage at the EXIT FESTIVAL, one of the most popular festivals in Europe. REWIRE are especially proud with their performances in places where there was several thousand people and fans. 2009, together with the trend set Serbian DJ scene they are actively involved in the project CLUB CULTURE, which main idea is based on professional education and personal development of young talented people who would like to be professionally involved in electronic music. The project aims to set standards and norms that the profession of DJ's and producers have raised to a higher professional level. In addition, one of the main goals of this project is the fight against drugs and violence and positive life attitude. As part of Club Culture Project, it was launched the first DJ Academy in Serbia, and ReWire are chosen as permanent mentors in due to unselfishly share their knowledge with the candidates of the Academy. ReWire are dedicated to producing the maximum of their music. For last 2 years they have released more than 15 tracks and many of them are still unreleased. They main goal is to achieve a sound of house music with elements of funk, tech, pumping sound. They coperate with labels like Mjuzieek Digital, Disko Zoo, In My House, Rich & Glorious, Blacksoul Music, Gramma Rec, Lip recordings etc. In 2012. they started another project called Beat And Juice whitch is based on more juicy deep soulful house sound.
