Wylderbeats are a melodic indie folk-pop band formed in Skelmersdale in Lancashire UK and Valencia in Spain. Our music is inspired by our upbringing in Northwest England and also our experiences in the city of Valencia . Our influences range from British and American folk music to country to 1960s pop and psychedelia and even French Chanson - one of our songs (Boldly Going Nowhere) is about hearing a tune by the great singer poet Georges Brassens. All songs on our latest album, There's a Light Over Yonder are of our own composition and try to explore the themes of finding light at the end of the tunnel and the urge to travel and get out of the rut, especially on songs like Side Door, Nothing Funny at All and Travelling Song.  We also have a song based on a family story of the hanging of one of our ancestors for sheep stealing (Last Breath of Brandy) and the role of our favourite wild bird the Robin in Northern European culture (Northland). Band members, Dan Brownrigg (Guitar, Keys, Vocals, Bass), Dave Rhead (Guitar, Vocals) , Nick Wilson (Guitar, Vocals) and Paul Roger (Vocals) are joined by Valencian vocalist Carla Rhead Sales and British percussionist Mike Holcroft on this album which has opened up a few horizons for us. The album was recorded both in Skelmersdale and Valencia with music going back and forth between the two, inspiring some of the themes of the songs and the feel of the music.
