In honor of Women's History Month and in coordination with other Free Library of Philadelphia Special Collections focused on women artists, Fleisher Discoveries focuses on works by five women composers:
♪ Lili Boulanger (1893–1918). D’un matin de printemps (1917–18)
♪ Elinor Remick Warren (1900–1991). The Crystal Lake (1946)
♪ Joelle Wallach (b.1946). Shadows, Sighs and Songs of Longing (1991)
♪ Gloria Coates (b.1938). Symphony No. 7, 2nd movement, “Glass of Time”
♪ Fanny Mendelssohn (1805–1847). Ouverture

The Crystal Lake by Elinor Remick Warren, as recorded by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra under Ronald Corp, was used courtesy of and is available from the  Dutton Epoch label (CDLX 7235) at www.duttonvocalion.co.uk . 

Shadows, Sighs and Songs of Longing by Joelle Wallach, performed by the National Slovak Radio Orchestra with Joel Suben conducting, was recorded on the Capstone Records label (CPS-8689). This and other recordings

Symphony No. 7: II. Glass of Time by Gloria Coates recorded by the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra with Olaf Henzold conducting was used courtesy of Naxos. The work is included along with symphonies nos. 1 and 14 on CD  8.559289.

D'un matin de printemps by Lili Boulanger and Overture by Fanny Mendelssohn, performed by the Women's Philharmonic under the baton of JoAnn Falletta, was recorded on the Koch International Classics label (3-7169-2H1).
