TIDAL WAVE

Alexander is a Phoenix based songwriter, guitar player and pianist. He started writing his own songs and learning to record and produce in logic pro in October 2021. After making more than a handful of experiments in pop and synthwave his interests have turned to folk and storytelling songs that emphasize a minimal production technique. His goal for 2024 is to produce a set of minimal covers that require him to employ and develop different vocal and instrumental techniques.

A ginnel is a passageway between red brick terraced houses, specifically in Yorkshire, where I grew up. The ones near where I lived had peculiar sound reflections that always fascinated me when I was little. Macalla is Irish Gaelic for echo, in a nod to my Irish roots…

Noel is a writer of songs and stories rather than a musical performer. His songs have been described as reflective as they are motivated by the struggles, celebrations and tensions of everyday life. His musical stories typically address issues as diverse as cancer and homelessness, addictions, love, loss and troubled relationships. These songs are led by the lyrics and are a mix of folk, country and blues.
Inspired by a diverse range of music from Leonard Cohen to Jason Isbell, Noel's songs took years to find their voice.Noel was born in Ireland and currently lives there but spent many years living and working in Africa. Much of his inspiration has been drawn from his own life experiences including his more recent journey with cancer. ‘Stars in Heaven’ is one of a number of songs dealing with cancer.  This particular song was chosen by Music Beats Cancer after submissions by over 800 other artists.
Noel says “ I really hope that the songs can reach a much bigger audience. I also hope that the songs can help, even in some small way, in connecting with people and in raising awareness and support for the issues they address."
