Having garnered a #2 Billboard Smooth Jazz holiday single (‘Happy Holiday’), a Hollywood Music In Media Award for ‘Best in Holiday,’ critical acclaim, and over 50 sync licenses in film, tv, and ads combined, Rehya Stevens is both a prolific artist and chameleon songwriter. Whilst known for her authentic artistry spanning Smooth Jazz and RnB, Dance, and Holiday genres, she is also a custom composer of songs-to-picture for Lifetime, Mar Vista, and for a diverse array of unique artists.

Through mutual colleagues and stages shared on the LA music scene, Rehya met veteran Smooth Jazz star Chris Standring, back in 2018. Chris approached Rehya about the prospect of writing a song together, and with a little elbow grease, some patience, and an organic hit of inspiration, “HIGHER (feat. CHRIS STANDRING)” was born.

“When Chris sent me the track, I was steeped in writing an all-original Christmas album that had me cocooned in the festive music space for over a year. I struggled to find the mental imagery for what became “Higher.” I had the melody composed, but lyrically, nothing was sticking. Then one afternoon, Chris called to ask how the song was going. Right before hanging up, he casually mentioned that he was leaving on a two-week vacation to Cancun. Ah-ha!! There was the shot of inspiration I needed. I pictured white sandy beaches, vibrant sunsets, and falling in love - hard and fast while on a dream vacation. What an idyllic start to a romance. But, what happens when you come back home - to reality?” -Rehya Stevens
