This playlist is a much more personal one than my others..
In the early 90's at about age 17 I (a hardcore punk/Thrash fan by nature) discovered and became fascinated by Rave music of all varieties and the culture behind it.  In 1995 I went to my first party and damn was it a good one.  A close friend took me to an "outlaw" party called Chocolate Shake thrown by local Baltimore scene legend Lonnie Fisher held in a shady out of the way warehouse.   One of the greatest nights I've ever had.  Shortly after my friends and I were making regular trips to events in Philly, NYC, DC, but especially B'more for the famous Fever and Sunday Mass parties.
This list is basically compiled of tracks and mixes that in some way bring me back to good memories of those days, some of the happiest times in my life.  Sets from DJ's we loved or parties we attended,  Mix tapes we listened to on long trips to and from,  tracks my friends used to spin at our local NJ weekly.  That sort of thing.

Chris Liebing has been a driving force in the techno scene for decades, creating a whole genre back in the 90s with hard, fast banging techno and continuing to push the limits of electronic music today 🔊🦾 His infectious energy and friendly demeanor have made him a beloved figure in the industry, and his dedication to elevating other artists has helped the scene flourish 🎧🌐

What makes this mixtape even more special is that it was recorded at the iconic Omen Club, where Liebing also first played with his pure remix label “CLRetry” back in 1998. This rare gem from the 90s might sound a little rough around the edges, since it's made of two tape recordings that were cut together. But that's what makes it all the more authentic and real - a true reflection of the golden era of Techno. 😈

I'm happy to announce I've started a new podcast series! Each week I'll bring in DJ/Producers from the industry to chat about life and music. If you like what you hear, head to the official site above to see more episodes or subscribe on iTunes!

Adam X stopped by for a lengthy chat about all things music. In the early days, he ran the infamous Sonic Groove record shop in NY while moonlighting as a DJ on the International circuit. When record sales dropped off due to a combination of the devastating act of 9/11 and the advent of the digital DJing era, Adam closed up shop and took off to Berlin where he would find a new era of musical inspiration and success.

Once he arrived in Berlin, he started a series of parties called "Crossing the Parallel" which received notoriety for combining the worlds of EBM, industrial, techno and electro together. On the production side, he was behind the initially-anonymous Transversable Wormhole project, which led to a re-release on CLR with a massive remix project that followed.

Fast forward to today, he has been making the rounds in Europe and the United States as a DJ on a weekly basis. He just finished an album for L.I.E.S. and continues to run the Sonic Groove record label. In his spare time, he regularly photographs and documents Berlin's graffiti scene.

Proud Brooklynite Adam X is one of the most pivotal figures in techno. As a founding father of the US rave scene with his brother Frankie Bones, he played hard and fast in the early years before losing himself in industrial. Having very much driven the revival of interest in that style, he remains at the sharp edge of the scene from his current home in Berlin, where he continues to turn out raw and visceral sounds on his Sonic Groove label.

It is a timeless two hour selection that covers deeper techno as well as the sheet metal synths and hammering beats Adam is known for. Strobe lit, sweaty and grimy, it oozes the sort of realness that has always separated him from the crowd.
