For Vessel, music is an expression of his life. Taking everyday encounters in life and translating them through a tangible art form everyone could immediately relate to. Vessel often says that we all mostly share the same pain though in various circumstances. We need hope while enduring the pain and need to know we are not in it alone. That’s where music comes in. Vessel is very passionate about artistry and advancing a message of hope to every ear that comes across his music.

Vessel was born as Andy Ayisi in Ghana, west side Africa, however the family migrated and currently based in Toronto. Vessel was raised in a Christian home that always played music. For Vessel music was almost second nature as he took interest in instruments at the age of seven. Ultimately it was the drums that won him over and has been playing since age ten. The message behind the music was not always about hope. In 2009 when Vessel encountered Jesus Christ everything changed. “I was lost, alone, broken, depressed, selfish, perverted. The morality I grew up with was thrown out because I started living to fill a void I couldn’t fill”. The void was the result of a broken relationship with God due to sin. A relationship only Christ could restore through forgiveness of sin. For Vessel there are many stuck in that reality and need the saving message of the hope found in Christ. The same hope he encountered. That is the purpose, message and heart behind every record, a message of hope. 


After about two years of recording, I released a 14 track record called "The Captaincy EP" on January 30th, 2015. 

Let's call that first release the A-Side. I fuck with it very much. 

But I made hella more music during that window of existence and I need to share it with you. It's my duty.

The title of this collection speaks to the idea of taking control of my experience. I am Captaincy. I needed to figure out what that meant and what I was gonna do with my new understanding.

I moved to Seattle in June 2013 and entered a transformative period of clarity. Surrounded by novelty, yet forced to work and play the role of a cog in a crumbling system, I let my new circumstances fuel my fire. I would work during the day and record at night. I had to release. Emote. I was depressed, I was anxious, I was excited, I was ready, I was spiteful, I was hungry.

I starved the middle man by avoiding paying for things like studio time, album artwork, mixing/mastering.. I came to the  conclusion that I need to do it all myself. If shit sounds scratchy at first, or not all the way polished, so be it. That's the process. The more music I made, the better it started to sound. Growth is gratifying. I am glad to say everything is written, recorded, mixed, and mastered by me. I worked inside of various closets, locked cars, and bedrooms. I recorded on Garageband and mixed/mastered with Logic. 

Thematically, I tried not to focus on making much of a succinct piece of work.. The A-Side ended up sort of revolving around the Alan Watts piece at the beginning of 'Crescendo' and the quantum notion of simultaneously living and dying, but more or less, I just said said fuck it and created for creation sake. It's better that way.

With that said, I have opened the Chamber of Secrets. Let my voice be the basilisk. Get stoned like a dirty filthy mudblood and enjoy yourself for me

Joe Stacy is a Singer Songwriter from Lexington Kentucky, He is a Veteran of the Global War on Terror serving 6 years and 3 deployments in the US Navy on board the USS Harry S Truman aircraft carrier.  In 2016, He recorded his debut album, Slight Dark Turn, with Josh Evans at Nubs Dubs Studios.  Though the album is new, most of the songs were written in the mid 90's to the early 2000's.  Many songs contain elements of the world's climate during these times.  Joe revised most of the songs while recording them to try to add maturity and experience to them.  "I try to make sure that the pain and passion is there, but I never want to leave feeling of hopelessness.  I try to make sure that there is positivity and hope at the end because that's how we make it through the dark times."  (Joe on Slight Dark Turn) "I think we were all pretty depressed back then (the 90's).  We watched our heroes die of drugs or suicide, It wasn't fully okay for people to be what they were born to be, a lot of suppressing feelings and forced conformance going on back then.  Some people have taken it too far in the other direction and are actively seeking something to find offensive, but all in all these are more positive times, granted we've seen war, we've seen struggle, we've seen real evil, and we've seen fear, but we've seen people overcome that in defiance.  Lately it seems there has been an intense backslide to that progress.  I tried to capture some of these things beyond the personal and emotional stuff on the album.  I felt the need to represent my generation, and some of the frustrations we see today"

FOLKSWING in one word is "OPTIMISTIC", "HAPPY" and "FUN". Okay that's 3, so read them one at a time. Essentially, It's POSITIVE minded music when you're DOWN or FEELING SICK. FolkSwing is a PICK-ME-UP  if you've had a bad day or need to be cheered up for your reason. I like to kind of think that FolkSwing has a certain naive charm about it. I don't know where that comes from though.

FOLKSWING IS COMPOSED OF 1 GUITAR, 1 MELODICA (TYPICALLY), AND ONE SNARE DRUM (USUALLY). THE GUITAR PLAYS THE TYPICAL 1, 4, 5 (BLUES) CHORD STRUCTURE WHILE THE MELODICA PLAYS NON BLUES BASED MAJOR SCALES.  THESE TWO ELEMENTS KEEP IT GROUNDED BY BLUES WITH MORE DIVERSITY BECAUSE OF THE MAJOR SCALES.  ALSO THE BPM IS ALWAYS 145, EVEN THE SONGS THAT SEEM SLOWER. THE POSSIBILITIES FOR FOLK SWING ARE WIDE BECAUSE THE GUITAR PARTS ARE BASIC, IT HAS NO BASS (AT LEAST NOT AT THIS POINT) AND THE DRUM PATTERN IS EXTREMELY SIMPLE.  FOR THIS REASON AND IN CONJUNCTION WITH A SIMPLE CHORD STRUCTURE, OTHER INSTRUMENTS AND PERCUSSION CAN BE ADDED IN WAYS THAT CAN ONLY IMPROVE IT.

ABOUT ME:

(GOD WHO CARES! ) I certainly don't which is why I put this last... but hey, for all my fellow-too-much-free-timers:

I have been writing songs for way too long. I can write lyrics, and play almost any instrument except horns and drums.  (LIKE WE CARE).  I can create music with so much musicality it's ridiculous, and I did for quite a while. Then I just got tired of it and decided that less is often more. Thus FolkSwing is one attempt at seeing how much substance I can get out of music that only uses two instruments (and a kit drum to unite them.)  

Before I became a huge fan of the melodica, I played harmonium for quite a while. I always loved the deep sustained sound it could produce, giving substance and texture behind the other instruments. I like melodica so much now though, because it's light, compact, and offers me more flexibility.

I was raised in a very conservative family that also emphasized art and creativity (there's about 5 or so of them in all history) which was the perfect environment to stay grounded and expressive, both at the same time. For this reason I most definitively am who I am. 

Although FolkSwing in it's native state is entirely instrumental, there's usually a story behind what I write and it will show in the title. Kung Fu Monkeys Fighting Bullies for example is about friends who help out the underdog and beat up the bully.  Fishing Every Morning with Grandad is about, tradition, nostalgia and so many other things that I could spend hours writing about them.  I Miss the Days, is about great times with people I love, overcomming personal demons and letting go.

With this extraordinary James Allen phrase, Zamir Abbud defines exactly how he feels about his life, his music. 
Born in Argentina and turkish descendant, Zamir Abbud has led a remarkable life, always trying to get through hard times and fighting for his dream to become true. 
Zamir started singing when he was just only five years old. His colourful, delicated, strong voice expresses LIFE in all its meaning. If you need to tranquilize yourself, don´t hestitate to listen to his music. He touches everybody´s soul, and invite you to fly directly to a deep world full of emotions. 
When he was fifteen, he had a band called " Soul Brothers ". They used to sing gospel and soul music. 
Zamir sang covers and his own songs, too.

In 2001, he participated singing in many events, doing his best in many Buenos Aires stages. He used to sing covers from Harlem Gospel Singers, The Drifters, Golden Gate Quartet, and artists like Mariah Carey, George Michael, Tony Bennet, Freddie Mercury. In the same year, he became part of a models agency called RV Models where he took acting lessons, singing lessons and modeling lessons.

On June, 15th 2002, was held a Popstars call at Club Hipico Argentino, where attended over 4000 young people to compete and become artists. There, Zamir auditioned with his song ( his first song was called " Desilusión de amor ", lyrics and music composed by him ) and two Alicia Keys covers ( Fallin´ and Never felt this way ).He passed the casting test, to the second instance evaluation. He didn´t feel comfortable with those auditions, because he knew his music and voice was so different to what they were looking for. So, he decided to leave because of familiar problems and because he wasn´t happy there... 
In the meanwhile, he decided to continue studying English so hard ( he studied English at Cambridge Institute since he was 6 ), so that, he would be able to improve the songs he sang.

Spiritual Life and Music 
Zamir Abbud always was a very spiritual person. Since he was a child he percived everything happened for a reason. He showed a very mature mind at a young age.Between 2003 and 2005, Zamir spent many hours trying to find the answers to his spiritual questions. He studied a lot about it and made a distance course dicted by The ASPR ( The American society for Psychical Research ). He said " Angels and spirits where my friends. As a Medium, I knew they were there for me. When I sang I felt connected to them, and it´s still like that. I strongly believe we are not alone in this world. Parralel to our world, there´s something else that we can´t see, but if you look so hard enough you will percive the energy I´m talking about. It´s on you if you want to discover what´s ahead for you in that spiritual world." "...as Plotinus said: we are not seperate from spirit, we are in it."During those years, his music style changed from gospel and soul music to experimental, alternative, ambient, and atmospheric music.

Zamir´s breakdown and voice rest 
In 2006, some health problems, did not allow him to continue singing. He got depressed, and thought his life was fading. Zamir needed a long rest. He stopped singing from 2006 to 2010. During that time he decided to leave singing . He worked as a teacher of english in private schools and important Argentinian companies, as an administrative in many american companies. He worked as a psychic on his own, and for american companies too.

The lost strength would be recovered over the years, making it a "tool" to mend the broken pieces of his heart, and show him, and show you, LIFE MUST GO ON.

The rebirth 
In 2011, zamir woke up from a nightmare and realised he needed the music again in his life. He started working on demos, and mixing his voice with some other artists music, too. 
He said "... 2011 is the year where I have to find myself again. I am ready to be back, and still fighting for my dream to become true. I need to feel connected with my voice again...I´m on that hard process. I´m sure I will find the strength I have lost. I promise myself I will make it!... ", " ... I don´t want to be famous, I just want to share what my voice can do in this new phase of my life. If people feel they can fly when I sing, I´m done. I want to transmit peace and faith through my songs... I don´t want to be an example of anything, but I would love people worth the precious gift The Universe gave us: Life..."

In the same year, he had a proposal to record his first international cd, but something went wrong with the producer who made that proposal. Even though, things went wrong, he felt 2011 was his rebirth year. He learnt a lot about people, and life.

Nowadays, he lives in Buenos Aires, Argentina... working so hard and waiting...for his dream to become true...
