Australian post-punk / pop band 1979 -- 1984. pel mel began in early 1979 in Newcastle, Australia, playing to a regular turnout of dole bludgers, students and the under-age. In 1980 the band escaped to Sydney and released their first single, ‘No Word from China’, a slice of dark but danceable post-punk pop that became a minor underground hit. Two albums and several singles of alt pop followed, and pel mel toured with artists such as the Birthday Party, the Go-Betweens, New Order, the Fall, Elvis Costello and more. Members included: Graeme Dunne -- vocals, guitar, bass; Jude McGee -- vocals, sax, synth; Dave Weston -- drums; Jane McGee -- guitar; Glen Hill -- bass (1979--1980); Nigel Savage -- sax; Lindsay O'Meara -- bass (1980--1982); Craig Bottle- bass (1982-1983) Paul Davies -- guitar (1983-1984). 

They don't make noise like that anymore.

With their assembled collection of eccentric sound tools, Scattered Order have fermented another set of dangerous sonic gases: sometimes absurdly pleasant, sometimes scarily abrasive, always multi-layered and certainly hurtling towards a blissful destination.
