Really interesting mix here with jazzy / flemnco guitar, funky rhythm section, and gregorian chant in the background! Such references! Alas, while I surely appreciate the spoken / rapped verses, my limited French vocabulary leaves me guessing .. 🙂

Here's the first Anomon & Elliot recording in a New Series of musical conversations in 'The Livingroom', in February 2023. And today (Feb. 21st it's #2 on the SC New & Hot Ambient Chart in North America. 

The tones and textures Tim created on his guitar as we began improvising reminded me of the Erhu.. the two stringed Chinese instrument played with a bow. It felt like we were actually looking out over the amazing horizon in the photo above, filled with wonder. Shortly after, we found our way into the musical equivalent of Para-Gliding over the clouds in very cool n joyous groove that continues to pulse through until the finish.

Blueprint for track that became 'Sandycove Milk'.

Inspired by wondrous music by Conin, whose track 'Kitty's Wake' reminded of the rich clay of Joyce's 'Finnegan's Wake'. This track, about the opening pages of Joyce's Ulysses, borrows coffee spoons, forever those of T.S. Eliot, in an effort to add sweet milk...drawn from the milk-well of honeyed Sandycove.  The lyric speaker is, notionally, Stephen Daedalus. For practical purposes, the lyric speaker is James Joyce himself. His aim? To hit Haines for a guinea [a pre-decimal unit of currency] before heading to France on a ferry. Whilst Haines still feels guilty (sheepish) about having fired his pistol at an imaginary cat he thought he saw in the fireplace in the Martello tower in Sandycove (now the Joyce Museum....a sacred...magical place, whose attendant Joyce scholars told me about the Haines' imaginary cat episode....it is all true...yet also dovetails eerily with the first chapter of Ulysses).

The reference to Haines having consumed Absinthe is a narrative fiction, invented to offer an explanation for his dangerous behaviour. No peer reviewed evidence capable of demonstrating Absinthe has hallucinogenic properties, exists, to my knowledge.

rosE mE is the project of Sophie Mercier, Belgian woman of the X generation (1974). Living in Spain (Altea) since 2005. All the lyrics are… obviously or not, inspired by real life events. If I sing that there is a horse in the living room, this is because there is a horse in the living room. “Belgian accent” songs, melancholic with a touch of hope, made for you if you’re not obsessed with performance or technicity and are able to recognize humour of fourth degree and self-derision. Since 2021, I discovered the world of virtual instruments and I started to do all by myself with the Studio One DAW and the Komplete Kontrol. Sometimes, I play real instruments like Chelo, sax, clarinet and whatever I find in my littlemountain home studio. Pieter Rotthier - Belgian artist, based in Antwerp. He produces electronic music, a blend of techno, house, ambient and experimental electronics. His music has often a darker or more melancholic vibe. It is danceable, but it also serves as a soundtrack for movies, that yet have to be made.
