Il lago dei cigni è uno dei più famosi e acclamati balletti del XIX secolo, musicato da Pëtr Il'ič Čajkovskij (op. 20). La prima rappresentazione ebbe luogo al Teatro Bolshoi di Mosca il 20 febbraio 1877 (calendario giuliano), con la coreografia di Julius Wenzel Reisinger.
Il libretto di Vladimir Petrovic Begičev, direttore dei teatri imperiali di Mosca insieme al ballerino Vasil Fedorovič Geltzer, è basato su un'antica fiaba tedesca, Der geraubte Schleier (Il velo rubato), seguendo il racconto di Jophann Karl August Musäus.
Primo dei tre balletti di Čajkovskij, fu composto tra il 1875 e il 1876. Viene rappresentato in quattro atti e quattro scene (soprattutto fuori dalla Russia e nell'Europa Orientale) o in tre atti e quattro scene (in Russia e Europa occidentale). Sebbene esistano molte versioni diverse del balletto, la maggior parte delle compagnie di danza basa l'allestimento, sia dal punto di vista coreografico che musicale, sul revival di Marius Petipa e Lev Ivanov per il Balletto Imperiale, presentato la prima volta il 15 gennaio 1895 (data come sopra) al Teatro Imperiale Mariinskij a San Pietroburgo, Russia.

Swan Lake is one of the most famous and acclaimed ballets of the nineteenth century , with music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky ( Op. 20). The first performance took place at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow February 20, 1877 ( Julian calendar ) , with choreography by Julius Reisinger Wenzel .
The libretto by Vladimir Petrovic Begicev , director of the imperial theaters in Moscow together with the dancer Vasil Fedorovich Geltzer , is based on an old German fairy tale , geraubte Der Schleier ( The Stolen Veil ) , following the story of Karl August Jophann Musäus .
The first of the three ballets by Tchaikovsky , was composed between 1875 and 1876. It is represented in four acts and four scenes (especially outside Russia and Eastern Europe ) or in three acts and four scenes ( in Russia and Western Europe) . Although there are many different versions of the ballet , most dance companies setting up bases , both in terms of choreographic and musical , on the revival by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov for the Imperial Ballet , first presented January 15, 1895 ( as given above) at the Imperial Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg , Russia.

The Piano Sonata No. 11 in A major, K. 331 (300i), by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is a piano sonata in three movements. It is uncertain where and when Mozart composed the sonata; however, Vienna or Salzburg around 1783 is currently thought to be most likely (Paris and dates as far back as 1778 have also been suggested). The sonata was published by Artaria in 1784, alongside Nos. 10 and 12 (K. 330 and K. 332).

Movement Three - Rondo Alla Turca (Turkish March).

The last movement, "Alla Turca", popularly known as the "Turkish March", is often heard on its own and is one of Mozart's best-known piano pieces. Mozart himself titled the rondo "Alla Turca". It imitates the sound of Turkish Janissary bands, the music of which was much in vogue at that time.

Various other works of the time imitate this Turkish style, including Mozart's own opera Die Entführung aus dem Serail. In Mozart's time, the last movement was sometimes performed on pianos built with a "Turkish stop", allowing it to be embellished with extra percussion effects.

Eine Kleine Nachtmusik (Serenade No. 13 for strings in G major), K. 525, is a 1787 composition for a chamber ensemble by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. 

The German title means "a little serenade," though it is often rendered more literally but less accurately as "a little night music." The work is written for an ensemble of two violins, viola, and cello with optional double bass, but is often performed by string orchestras.

This first movement is in sonata-allegro form. It opens with an ascending Mannheim rocket theme. The second theme is more graceful and in D major, the dominant key of G major. 

The exposition closes in D major and is repeated. The development section begins on D major and touches on D minor and C major before the work returns to G major for the recapitulation. There is a brief coda.

The Two Arabesques (Deux arabesques), L. 66, is a pair of arabesques composed for piano by Claude Debussy when he was still in his twenties, between the years 1888 and 1891.

Although quite an early work, the arabesques contain hints of Debussy's developing musical style. The suite is one of the very early impressionistic pieces of music, following the French visual art form. Debussy seems to wander through modes and keys, and achieves evocative scenes through music. His view of a musical arabesque was a line curved in accordance with nature, and with his music he mirrored the celebrations of shapes in nature made by the Art Nouveau artists of the time.

Arabesque No. 1. Andantino con moto

This arabesque is in the key of E major. The piece begins with parallelism of triads in first inversion, a composition technique very much used by Debussy and other Impressionists which traces back to the tradition of fauxbourdon. It leads into a larger section which begins with a left hand arpeggio in E major and a descending right hand E major pentatonic progression.

The second quieter B section is in A major, starting with a gesture (E-D-E-C♯), briefly passing through E major, returning to A major and ending with a bold pronouncement of the E-D-E-C♯ gesture, but transposed to the key of C major and played forte.

In the middle of the recapitulation of the A section, the music moves to a higher register and descends, followed by a large pentatonic scale ascending and descending, and resolving back to E major.
