East Memphis-raised artist “Black Smurf” also known as “Black Smurf the Hustle God” delivers incomparable music about his life progression, the hustle, and the will to always better ones self. 

Beginning his debut in 2011 in the underground scene he truly made a name/lane for himself. Yet not until dropping his No. 1 singles “Execution 1999” & “Fully Hydrated” in 2012 an then releasing his debut album in 2014 “Hustle Warfare 3 (Prod. Purpdogg)” did he really shake the underground scene. He is best known for helping many artist rise to the mainstream, yet still staying one of the underground scenes notable most humble legends. Still independent, once apart of Waterboyz Ent., Now mostly known under the brand “Hustle Family” he continues to release real heart-felt relatable hustle music to his supporters.

Kemo

As a new artist, Rakeem “Kemo” Day has certainly shown his potential for success. His large following and social media presence speaks volumes of his ability to connect with the world through his music. The story behind it all is captivating and is the driving force behind his raw and authentic talent. 

Kemo was raised by his mother in Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood, along with his older brother who is autistic. Although they’ve faced many challenges, his family’s tight-knit relationship has kept him both humble and determined to reach his goals. He lives by his mother’s words to “follow your heart and you will get far in life”. Music has been part of Kemo’s life from a very young age, and it became his chosen path. At 13 years old, Kemo and his friends formed a rap group, Fly Boy Ent. Their first performance was for a stop-the-violence event hosted by CeaseFire Illinois. Unfortunately, growing up on the north side of Chicago, Kemo is no stranger to the on-going gun violence that plagues the city. On May 29, 2015, his best friend and notable Chicago artist Young Pappy was shot and killed; however, he left Kemo with the gift of music. 

With his ability to effortlessly fuse energy, dance, and street elements into his music, Kemo is already gaining momentum. His music coupled with his fun and electrifying personality has earned him over 3K Instagram and Facebook followers and a YouTube fan base through which he has had 50K views within two weeks for his song “Drip From My Tech”. He has collaborated with Bang da Hitta, Tay the Producer, rapper BUDouble, and many up-and-coming artists in Chicago. 

Kemo can undoubtedly take his music far, as he has the determination and the heart to reach many; the people are listening. He has fought for the artist he is today, and the daily struggle between survival and his passion plays out in his music, making it an honest representation of who he is. His love for music, family, and his new baby boy has created an unstoppable drive in him. There is only one path for Kemo, and that path leads to success.
